We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sofia De’roma a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sofia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
My spiritual and creative studies began when I was gifted with consciousness and given the opportunity to satisfy my hungry child-like curiosity. I quickly found that I naturally excelled within the artistic realms I manifested within because of my heightened sensitivity. My psychic abilities found a home through creatively channeling myself and there they formed a long lasting bond within me. I’ve acquired the majority of my knowledge through following my intuition which has led me to what’s meant to be for me to receive. Invoking me to explore both internal and external terrains where the wisdom I need and desire is accessible. The main obstacle that has come with following my intuition has been facing feelings of self-doubt on the journey of being true to myself. Trusting myself and my abilities has become an essential skill for me to be a clear channel for myself and those I’m meant to serve. If I had the choice to speed up the learning process I would choose not to because I’ve found the beauty is in the intricacies. If I rush through the ritual that is being a student of life I may miss them. The intricacies are what are most inspiring to me. Complexity is food for my creativity.
Sofia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Through the lifelong process of embodying my psychic and artistic abilities I have found ways they can be best of service to this earth and the beings that dwell upon it. Service to me means showing up for all those most in need of my unique specialties outside of any financial restrictions. I seek to inspire others, help them heal, and embrace the full spectrum of their soul. With the ultimate goal to uplift the collective whole through individual care. Intimacy is a key factor in how I tend to others. This intimacy arises when I allow others space to be authentic, wherever they’re at in their own healing journey, so I can meet them there, and uplift them from that space. I weave my creativity seamlessly into my spiritual practices and services. Integrating art into everything I do. My channeling is colorful just like my bright shining soul. I love diving deep into the nooks and crannies of others and pulling out the hidden gems, the gifts, the magik, that lies beneath the surface. I know no limitations in terms of divination. I utilise tools like tarot cards, birth charts, and runes to provide readings in my business Mystic Maiden Magic, but my practice is not limited to these tools, they are just a fun addition to the channeling process. I am open to giving readings for anything someone needs. General guidance, ancestral connection, past life regression, inner child healing, soul studies, shadow work, fortune telling, these are just some of the many realms I’ve dipped my toes in since channeling for myself and others. Every person takes me on a new journey based on their individual needs and desires which I get excited to explore with them. My set business services right now are divinatory readings, full spectrum healing sessions, and custom creations. Outside of these services, I also offer a wide array of free healing resources online, constantly sharing guidance, writing prompts, tarot spreads, and guided meditations on my social media platforms. In-between sharing free healing resources on my page, I share poetry, personal artworks, music making, mood boards, modeling, photography, and activist content. Just in 2024 alone, I was published in multiple magazines, hosted and vended at healing events, took up modeling opportunities, read poetry live, and created more than ever before, all while navigating my own healing and facing rock bottom moments in my life. I have big dreams and I know it is my destiny to achieve them, so I’m just gonna keep doing me. My magik leads me to the places I’m meant to be.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the main reasons I’m so devoted to healing is because I had to navigate complex traumas all throughout my upbringing. I’ve experienced neglect, abuse, financial scarcity, bullying, SA, gun violence, drug addictions, and so much more that required me to take back my power as a healer and pour into myself. I’ve spent majority of my life actively tending to the wounds that were created as I aged because I was committed to healing for my lineage, my loved ones, and the earth as whole. Knowing my souls mission, I wasn’t gonna let the pain of the past keep me from the potential of the present, and all that I have to give to this life. I’m still learning to recognize my own resilience.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The greatest fuel for my fire is collective and earth healing. As I continue to rise into my potential in this lifetime, I hope to inspire others to do the same, to lift up the underdogs, and ultimately destroy the detrimental divisions between us all. Encouraging humans to band together and heal for the greater good of all. Knowing just how much power we hold when we co-create. I envision a brighter future for humanity where compassion and community care are the foundation uplifting us – with indigenous wisdom at the core. I know this work can be dirty and long lasting, but I am willing to keep fighting and loving my way into that reality. My hope is my greatest companion on this path.
