Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sofia Carlson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sofia , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope that my legacy will be that I was someone who did everything I could to help foster community and make others feel supported and welcome.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Be Good and the markets began during Covid as a way to connect Nashville and all of the amazing creatives that blossomed during the pandemic. Yes, the creatives and their talents existed far before Be Good and covid, but I think the environment helped push people to put themselves out there and see if others loved what they did as much as them and the answer was an overwhelming, yes! We essentially wanted a way to showcase Nashville’s many amazing small businesses with markets and social gatherings.
As markets have grown over the past two years, the biggest thing we have gained from it is community. Truthfully, I didn’t feel at home in Nashville for the 4 years prior to the inception of Be Good. I was fresh out of a job in hospitality where work was my only focus and I didn’t really know where I stood without it. The amazing, kind, supportive people I have met through markets and social gatherings have reinvigorated my love of what this city has to offer and I feel as though that has become our mission. Taylor and I want to connect everyone from the creative community and help nurture opportunities for collaboration and support within that.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Communication! I think the beauty of Be Good as a brand is that we are first and foremost trying to connect with our audience and those we work with. Every piece of what we do is done with the intention of highlighting others and I think that shines through. We have a desire to uplift others and that creates a dynamic of approachability with clients and partnerships.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
As someone who uses clothing and styling as their creative outlet, I have to say there is nothing better than the perfect match-making of an article of clothing or prop with a concept or specific person. Styling and producing photoshoots has made me rethink my lifelong preconceived notion that I wasn’t a creative. Being able to bring someone’s vision to life feels really rewarding to see it all come together. I suppose producing is similar, because you are essentially the architect of the shoot putting all the right talented, creative people in a room together to execute an idea.
