Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Smash Bruvas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Smash Bruvas, thanks for joining us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
Here’s the real talk about making it in the music: it’s not just about dropping tracks; it’s a hustle, a whole different grind. First off, you gotta vibe with your crowd on a level where they see you, the real you. That’s the foundation right there. If they’re into you, they’re into whatever you’re selling, riding with you through every high and every low.
But here’s the thing—we ain’t cashing out yet. It’s all about setting up the play for the long game. 2024’s the year we’re laying down the tracks for the money train. Meetings after meetings with the team, videographers, and management, we’re all about flipping our artistry into a cash flow. Merch, ads, you name it, we’re on it. It’s not just music; it’s business.
The journey’s been lit with milestones that keep the fire burning. Getting featured on ESPN, featuring with the DMV Music Portal, hitting a million streams on a project, and blowing up on TikTok? That’s not just noise—it’s proof. Proof that what we got is worth investing in, worth the hustle.
So, yeah, we’re not there yet, but we’re building something solid. Stick with us, and watch this space turn gold like Midas touched it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
The Smash Bruvas stand as the biggest example of creativity and inspiration, we are a duo that’s undeniably redefined the music vibes in the DMV area. Born and raised in the Nation’s Capital, our journey in music has been nothing short of a lifelong journey, powered by an unwavering passion for the craft.
Our connection with our fans goes beyond the pure hits we have; it’s a shared experience, a collective journey marked by the exclusive handmade merch we give out to our die-hard fans and content creators. This isn’t just apparel; it’s a statement, a symbol of solidarity and support as we navigate this business together, inspiring our community to rise above, to push boundaries, and to achieve the extraordinary, despite the odds stacked against them.
What truly distinguishes us though is our unparalleled sound and aesthetic. Our city has yet to witness a duo that brings our level of energy, our distinctive sound, and work ethic. We’re in a league of our own. But it’s not all about the music though; our ethos, how we treat those we encounter, our character, shines brightest. It’s the cornerstone of everything we do, extending far beyond our production. Its paid back ten-fold.
Among the accolades we cherish, crossing over a million streams, gracing ESPN, and partnering with the Washington Wizards stand tall. These accomplishments aren’t just badges of success; they’re testaments to our impact, our reach, and our potential. They underscore what we’ve always believed: that our sound has the power to move mountains, inspire, and to bring people together.
For those tuning in for the first time, the Smash Bruvas are more than just a rap duo; we’re a WHOLE movement, and a WHOLE vibe of ultra unique creativity in the DMV scene. We embody the spirit of resilience, the power of authentic expression, and the bond of community; and we want to continue changing the world as we move through this business

Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
NFTs? Man, we not there yet lol. It is interesting though. We were talking about this not too long ago. When Tory Lanez dropped “When Its Dark”, it was crazy. That man sold one million copies — in seconds. Seconds. That is insane. The only person who we can think of that could pull something like that off in person would be Michael Jackson. This move was legendary.
So we do think that this is a remarkable way to sell and upscale your art, and we would definitely be interested in using them in the future when the time comes.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Throughout our journey as the Smash Bruvas, resilience has been key, especially during the challenge of hitting the 1 Million stream mark on our project, “Quarantine Nights.” This project faced significant setbacks, being taken down twice from platforms, which forced us to start over from zero. The challenge wasn’t just about reposting the music; it was about reigniting interest and reconnecting with our audience, essentially having to market the project as if it was brand new.
The process tested our resolve. We had to rethink our strategy, diving deep into creative marketing and leveraging every platform available to us to spread the word. We pushed on social media and engaged with our fans more directly than ever before. It was a grind, day in and day out, to regain the momentum we had lost.
Our determination paid off. Not only did we manage to recapture our initial listeners, but we also expanded our reach, eventually surpassing the 1 Million streams on Spotify for “Quarantine Nights.” This experience taught us the power of perseverance and the importance of adaptability. It was a clear testament to what can be achieved with hard work and the willingness to push through obstacles.
