We recently connected with Slikk Flock and have shared our conversation below.
Slikk, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I knew I really wanted to pursue my dreams as an artist when I started getting good feedback from the people around me plus strangers. That gave me the motivation to take it serious the more I stuck to it I feel in love with it.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
What’s going on everybody my name is “Slikk Flock” I’m an artist from Baltimore, MD. I got into making music in my early 20’s fresh outta school with no future to look forward to at the time. Rap fell into my lap I feel in love with writing I challenged myself to get better at perfecting my craft. I wanted to be the best artist that I could be that’s why I’m always pushing myself to be better. To go with my music I have my own clothing line called “B.U.G Apparel”. It’s very important and special to me because I feel every artist should look at themselves as a brand this is my brand. In 2023 I started a new career in acting I’ve been enjoying the journey so far with the roles I’ve been blessed with this year. I’m proud of all of my accomplishments so far even tho I’m still not where I wanna be I know that I’m not where I started at. You gotta embrace the baby steps take the wins and losses it’s all apart of the game. To all my potential new fans, followers, etc I hope I can inspire you from my music or my everyday life to bring the best out of you as a person. I’m someone who made a lot of mistakes I never let it lose sight of my goals. No matter what you’re going thru just know long as you got breathe you got time to fix it.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
SUPPORT!!!!! That’s the best thing society could do to support artist or other creatives. If you like something support it don’t wait til society says it’s cool to be yourself.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Marketing. I wish I been knew about this earlier in my journey I probably would’ve made better decisions with my career. Most artists doesn’t pay attention to marketing we just think record a song then Boom! It’s a hit. Everything is about marketing from music, sports, business etc.
