We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Slick Da King. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Slick below.
Hi Slick, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Being a Reality TV blogger you have to cover the lives of the Reality TV stars on and off the television screen. And during my years of sneaking into filmings and rubbing elbows with the reality TV world at Atlanta events, I became aware of a side to the stars that their fans wouldn’t believe. At times even if I was tempted to report some of their unsavory or shocking dealings. I knew that I couldn’t fight the wrath of the networks for exposing their moneymakers.
However, I let the tea inspire me to create a work of fiction, The Secret Lives of Atlanta. It’s my first novel and it’s as hot as the rumors and gossip that I dared not to repeat for years.

Slick, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am an Author, Actor and Content Creator. I’ve done blogging, radio shows and podcasting. And I’ve taken full advantage of the TV and Film explosion in Atlanta. I’ve booked gigs on productions such as: Black Lightning, Ruthless, Bruh, The Resident, Saints and Sinners and more.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The first examples that come to mind are the two times that the host for my websites deleted my sites and lost all my blog posts and interviews from when I had a popular reality TV blog, Slicktalk4Real. The first time it happened I was determined not to let it get me down and I immediately paid someone to build me a whole new website. The second time it happened I said to myself, “What is God trying to tell me?” I took it as a sign to go in a new direction. Since the canvas of blogging had changed from long written blog posts to media personalities giving their takes on various topics on social media, YouTube and podcasts. I went in a new direction and grew my following up to 75K followers by getting more personal with my followers and becoming more visible. I also launched an interactive radio show with my Cohost, The Slvrfox.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
The way I built my audience was by literally living in my Instagram insights and paying attention to what my audience loved. I also knew who they were. I knew their age and gender and where they from. I planned my content around THEM!
