Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to SkyUnit Team. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, SkyUnit thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The best way to explain our mission is to demonstrate the method behind our creativity regarding audiovisual concepts. In our stride to survive the incoming waves of trying to establish a presence in the multimedia market, SkyUnit attempts to break established molds by thinking out of the box and tackle styles of work/direction that other companies/groups deem “too risky” or “non-profit friendly”. When work is proposed, the team brainstorms on how said project can be done in a form that is not conventional, something that will stand out. From how the video is filmed, acted, edited and exported. All of this is made possible thanks to the group foundation that is teamwork. Even though every SkyUnit member has different purposes inside the group’s mainframe, they help each other out in the best way they can. It is thanks to this work flexibility that commissions from all sorts of fields can be tackled and accomplished. No matter if it’s a commercial ad for a restaurant or a storydriven segment for social media, Sky Unit will find a way to adapt to these conditions and deliver a well made product.
Essentially, the spirit of our mission is to provide a soulful service to many kinds of industry, rooted in strong team work and multimedia.
SkyUnit, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
The working logic behind each SkyUnit member varies from one to another. In general, the team comes together when it comes to creativity. Each member may have different interests when it comes to a project’s topic, but the mechanic that drives all works home is how dynamic said projects can be. For example, if a client proposes a short video advertising their car-related tool brand, one member might be more connected to it and some might be driven away. However, this is just a matter of taste. Members that like cinematography might enjoy recording said ad in a way that allows them to express their cinema craft. That way, they enjoy working on something that’s not in their area of interest and show their style of work (how they stand out). Adding the fact that each member specialises in different crafts, not just one. So, it is difficult for SkyUnit to find work that it does not like, there’s a bit for everyone. There’s much room to tell stories on how each member evolves, adapts and enjoys their craft.
No matter if it’s photography, cinema, editing, illustration, etc. Each member enjoys exploring the horizons of any work.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
For SkyUnit to make its presence known in the audiovisual market, many hurdles have to be surpassed. One of these key obstacles are deadlines. Given the pace of the current multimedia market, the group must take on many simultaneous works in order to build reputation and portfolio. In order to survive, each member must know how to deal with these conditioners. Since each work is different, everyone must come together and determine the nature of each proposition. How can each member cut their workload in order to be more efficient? How available is each worker? What tools are best suited to give the project the best quality possible while saving each worker “unnecessary” work? If the group has too many side-projects going on, will a new one be possible?
These are some of the things each member learned as SkyUnit’s history went on.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
SkyUnit prioritises the client’s vision before their product. What this means is, as group, each member talks to the client in order to understand what they truly want. The team does not have a “leader” that listens to what the client wants and then dictates solely what they understood. In SkyUnit, each worker will talk to the client in order to direct their craft in line to what the work should be. The whole group will meet with the client and discuss what aspects they can help with and those they cannot. This way, the finished project will mirror what the client asked for. SkyUnit also promises to be flexible, not stone stiff with the work at hand. If a client has a change of heart, it will be professionally negotiated with each worker. But, just like the work, this negotiation is flexible as well. No tension and no hostility. The team wants the client to feel welcomed and relaxed within this work environment. This can be done via real life meetings or facecam video calls.
SkyUnit wants the client to feel like a new member of its family, creating this symbiotic relation between the two.
