Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to SKYE SUSALLA. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
SKYE, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
My father passed away 15 years ago. That is how long it has taken me to sort through loads and loads of memorabilia pertaining to his life’s dedication to the golf industry . The memories I have been able to share about my Dad, has led me to meet some great admirers of his legacy. I now have others on Instagram , Such as #Vintagegolfwear that I can share stories, and vice versa . It has been a labour of love,, but I feel it’s the most important project I have ever done .
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I began sharing photos on my Instagram account @SkyelifeSailFree as a way to excite others about the joy of sailing. My sailing began in Australia a country full of experience and fun loving Yachties . There’s nothing like sailing ahead of a cyclone or seeing that enormous whale surface way to close to your hull. The freedom and love of the ocean is a gift.
@SurfriderSanDiego got my attention about the overuse of plastics that eventually end up in our waters. We strive to not have very little of it on our boat Jersey Girl. I PROUDLY fly the flag of the USA and SurfriderSanDiego in every country we are lucky enough to sail.
When o was younger I travelled the world taking photos at sporting events, where my love of travel and meeting new people have pushed me to where I am now, sailing photos and a #SassySaltyMermaid!
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I would think most people have had to pivot during their lifetime, more then once perhaps.
When my Son Brett was born in Australia I decided to stay home and raise him full time. Jetting around from one sporting event to another would mean I was missing the greatest times with my son .
It was very hard missing out but by the time my Son Scotte was born I was in full swing as a stay at home Mum!
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
It would of been awesome to have google to look for work at home jobs, or looking into who you could be selling your photographs , that by this time were sitting in storage .
