We recently connected with Sky Crystal and have shared our conversation below.
Sky, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
I was cast in the Testicuzzi commercial back in 2019. Very small pay for what the product turned into, but it got my face on national television as the product was showcased on Shark Tank, and made Mark Cuban laugh, so it was definitely worth it.

Sky, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
While I was on tour with my band, Kingdoms, between 2014 and 2017, I would write screenplays and study movies. I always wanted to be a musician, and film wasn’t something I ever thought would be my career.
In 2017, my band broke up, and my mother passed away. A few days before my mother passed, I let her know I was considering moving to L.A. and pursuing acting. I will never forget this moment because she looked me straight in the eyes and said, “Go do it, life is too short.” I didn’t go to L.A. I ended up in Atlanta with a close friend, Preston Taylor, a director I’ve worked with on multiple occasions.
Growing up in the hardcore/emo/punk/metal scene in Twin Falls, Idaho, has allowed me to study lyrics, poetry, and concepts that are not as common in the mainstream. As an actor and writer, this upbringing has given me a unique perspective on what it means to be human.
I’m most proud of two projects that are currently in development at the moment. First is “Ride Like The Wind”. A screenplay about a gritty 1980s southern town, where a desperate escort takes a chance on a mysterious stranger. What begins as survival unravels into a haunting collision of past and present, until both discover that salvation might only exist in each other. Produced by Jarod Einsohn and Waseem Rahim, with the directorial debut of Drew Lewis Guerra.
Next would be “Best Day Ever”, another screenplay about A black hitman (Avon) who is tasked by the Italian mob to poison a competing gangster with a ricin-laced cannoli. The day takes a turn when his annoying white brother-in-law (Mike) eats the cannoli, causing the Avon to give Mike one final Best Day Ever, before the poison kicks in. Produced by Waseem Rahim and Omar Adham, with the directorial debut of Preston Taylor.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
There was once a 14-year-old kid who didn’t want to live anymore, but Samwise Gamgee’s speech at the end of The Two Towers convinced him otherwise. That’s the reason I do this is I want to make something that will one day encourage some kid to see tomorrow.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Stop drinking. It’s poison and a waste of your time, money, and health. Smoke weed like an adult.
