We were lucky to catch up with Skitnb recently and have shared our conversation below.
SkiTnB, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission, in short, is to provide more in-depth knowledge of ski areas to help people like me have a better experience on the mountain. I like to describe these places through video tutorials. Some of these tutorials are raw and unedited, while others are stylized montages that people can relax and enjoy. There are many skiing videos out there, but I strive to document and detail lesser-known places by providing both informational and entertaining video guides.
My motivation stems from the lack of purely informational skiing content. Many people prefer to showcase their own personality while skiing, while others simply share their adventures. However, I aim to enable the audience to effectively ski the places we all yearn to visit.
I’ve been perfecting my craft for about five years, and throughout many ski seasons, I’ve refined a consistent format. However, I’ve also faced significant challenges along the way. In 2020, alongside the Covid-19 pandemic, I was diagnosed with a severe case of Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD), specifically Crohn’s Disease. During the pandemic’s peak years, I struggled with a particularly grim case of IBD, but my passion for skiing and the art of informational filmmaking motivated me to continue pursuing what I love despite my hardships.
Now, in addition to informing people, I run my channel as both a hub of knowledge and a form of freedom and relief from the difficulties of my affliction. During the 2022-23 ski season, I endured some of the hardest periods of my life. It was soul-crushing to experience such pain, which hindered my ability to pursue my passion—especially during one of the best snow years for U.S. ski areas. My case of Crohn’s Disease resisted cutting-edge treatments, and many doctors were considering surgery. It was the drive to ski and share knowledge that kept me going through some of the darkest times. Eventually, a miracle drug essentially saved my life.
My mission is simple: to do what I love. Informing and enabling others to enjoy the sport I am passionate about is my ultimate goal, and I want to prove that I can achieve this while managing a disease that many would surrender to. I hope to help people like me—those who love skiing, exploring, and embracing new challenges—understand what the best of skiing looks like. I won’t let my affliction stop me from pursuing this dream.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I go by many alias’s that fall under the SkiTnB name, and it’s with these alias’s that I seek to inform people of the wonders of freeride skiing. I got into this industry when I was gifted GoPro action cameras back in 2018. The art of capturing a moment for myself and others to see captivated me, and combined with the ability to make these moments entertaining for not only myself, but for others as well, the gift essentially sparked my passion for filmmaking.
Through my experiments with the cameras, I found a relatively untapped market in the industry of ski videos, that is of informational ski content. I provide tutorials and details of lesser-known parts of ski resorts while also keeping an entertaining content format. To help inform my viewers, I utilize nearly hand-made run signs that are based off the run signs you would see at ski resorts. These run signs provide the run name, the maximum slope pitch, and the run difficulty.
Additionally, I conduct on-site photography that I later detail using official trail and patrol maps that provide further insight into a resort or zone that a normal trail map usually wouldn’t. These maps provide a deeper level of detail that viewers may not be aware of when studying a normal trail map.
I think my passion for providing the most information as possible to my audience is what sets me apart from the rest of the creators in this industry. I spend a great portion of my filmmaking process creating informative diagrams and signs to better describe the places I’m showcasing. I want to make sure I have as much information as possible when putting my content out on YouTube.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
A good way I like to keep in touch with my audience is to stay active in my community, I respond to nearly every comment, question, or review I receive. If I receive a question, I respond and go above and beyond with my answers. I assist as much as I can and a little more. I believe the friendly, informative nature of my responses combined with my detailed, informational videos helps me foster a loyal, returning audience.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being creative is having the freedom to take your projects in the direction you desire. If you have an idea, you have full power to put that creativity to film. Having freedom uncaps the ceiling for imagination as you don’t have to fit the restrictions you otherwise would in different positions. My imagination allows me to innovate and evolve my content in better ways than I would under somebody else’s vision.
