Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sir Dominique Jordan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sir Dominique, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I don’t have one sole project that is the most meaningful, but more recently, I’ve been able to garner and work alongside a pretty stealthy committee of Social Justice warriors as we build the City of Lancaster, PA’s first ever City Poet Laureate position. A fellow poet, teammate and basically family member named Thunda Khatt came to me with the concept originally. I’ve had the privilege to champion poetry in a lot of unique spaces in my hometown related to education, civic engagement, non profit spaces, etc, but I wasn’t too familiar with the specifics details. However, I was definitely aware of some past Poet laureates in close proximity to our area and afar. We then used our resources and connections to activate the powers that be to create said committee. As much as I would have loved to be our City’s first poet laureate, I recused myself to make sure I could be apart of the process to create a sustainable program that would last years after I’m gone and forgotten! With all that to say, this is a historical moment for poets in my city and creative writers everywhere as we hope to lead the effort for other local urban areas!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
OWNERSHIP. PUBLISHING. That is basically it!
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Allow artists to lead with their minds and hearts, not just with their creative tools (pens, pencils, paint brushes, etc.) We have so much more to offer the world that will lead to a more innovative and equitable society as well as a healthier planet.
