We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sindy De Turris. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sindy below.
Sindy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Folks often look at a successful business and imagine it was an overnight success, but from what we’ve seen this is often far from the truth. We’d love to hear your scaling up story – walk us through how you grew over time – what were some of the big things you had to do to grow and what was that scaling up journey like?
Well, mainly to believe in myself and my knowledge. To turn off the external noise and listen to that inner voice or voice of god (intuition), the one that tells you that you can do what you dream of. After that… take action; Because a dream without action is just an illusion.
I have been a public accountant for 20 years and I worked in accounting, taxes and costs in Maracaibo, Venezuela until 2014 when I emigrated to the United States.
But as we all know to grow a business is not easy, and even le in a country where no one knows you, that’s when I started networking in my community, I knocked on many doors in which many people said NO, I participated in many events, I gave away a lot of business consulting so that more people knew about my services and how they could help them in the growth of their business, at the same time as I needed to generate more money so I worked as a precooked in some hotel restaurants, I worked as a boarding assistant at the airport, but always with my clear goal, those other jobs did not demotivate me, on the contrary, I was grateful to be able to have them and I knew that they would be transitory, so I continued making content for social networks so that more people would know about my work, I continued to do free classes and tutorials to help the community, I also asked for help from friends content creators and designers who helped me a lot in the creation of my brand and templates for social networks, and so step by step I was evolving and growing in the Latin community around the world more and more, they really liked my work, and still do, like the results they get in their business and the way I explain it to them, since then I have not stopped, I continue to build my company and help business owners to have greater profitability.
In summary, the strategies are:
– Believe in yourself
-Ask for help from people who know what you don’t know or can’t do.
– Have perseverance and discipline.
– Earn income by working on something else until your business generates your own salary.
– Networking.
– Surround yourself with people who have big dreams, who have achieved goals, who have good vibes and who are constantly evolving.
– Finally, and super important, to be in constant learning, the only sure thing besides death, is evolution and if we want to go far, being up to date is essential. Invest in yourself and your knowledge, no one can take that away from you and it is never too much.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I offer personalized individual consulting services and on-demand courses on cost structure creation for businesses in any industry, so that they grow efficiently and have greater profitability. At the same time, I work on personalized marketing and sales strategies to push them upwards.
Generally business owners place their prices comparing themselves to others in the market, but they do not know how to include their fixed costs and their variable costs to calculate their break-even point and thus be able to make a real profit margin.
According to my clients, what differentiates me from the rest is my authenticity and the way I explain the numbers of your business as easy as possible, which many find difficult sometimes. And after I explain or watch some of my courses, they understand everything more clearly.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn about the mindset of lack and learn about the mindset of abundance. Believe it or not, we are unconsciously programmed as our parents or relatives grew up with us, we have in our minds phrases such as “millionaires are complete”, “being rich is bad” “money does not bring happiness”, etc.
And those are thoughts that limit growth in our life and businesses, many times it is difficult for us to increase the price of our work because we believe that we do not deserve it, or that what we do is not worth it because we are just starting, or for other reasons, and the bottom of everything is the upbringing, and the culture where we come from and with which we grew up.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I have several anecdotes, the first is that I decided to stay and live in the United States with only $200. The second is that I started providing my services without initial capital, just creating an account on Instagram and Facebook, looking for opportunities, networking and referrals. And the third is working in industries where I had never worked before.
