We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sinclair Slazinski a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sinclair, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My parents led by example. They showed me the value of hard work, resilience, and taught me to chase my dreams without hesitation. They didn’t just tell me what was right; they lived it, consistently. I owe them everything, making them proud is one of the best feelings in the world. They always show up for me, they’re my biggest fans and their belief in me has always allowed me to be whoever I wanted to be.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Im a model, and my journey into the industry started with a genuine love for creativity, and self-expression. I’ve been fortunate enough to spend the last four years abroad, working with a range of brands, creatives, and photographers—each experience helping me grow not only in front of the camera but also as a professional. As a model, I bring more than just a look—I bring energy, versatility, and a strong understanding of how to help bring a creative vision to life. Whether it’s high fashion, commercial, lifestyle, or beauty, I aim to bring something authentic and intentional to every project. I think what sets me apart is my work ethic, professionalism, and the way I connect with the camera and the people behind it. I’m not just showing up—I’m showing up with purpose, ready to deliver.
What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come by staying true to myself. Every step has been earned, and it means a lot to be building a career while making my family and younger self proud.
For anyone discovering my work: know that I’m passionate about what I do, I care deeply about quality and I’m just getting started. My brand is rooted in authenticity, and consistency.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was thinking that someone else’s success somehow took away from mine. I used to believe that if someone else was winning, it meant there was less room for me. But over time—and through experience—I realized how false that mindset is.
The turning point came when I started seeing other girls in the industry book my dream jobs or reach big milestones. At first, I’d feel that sting of comparison, like maybe I was falling behind/ wasn’t good enough… but then I reminded myself: just because someone’s eating doesn’t mean it’s off my plate. There’s more than enough to go around, and someone else’s win doesn’t take anything away from me. We can all eat. We can all win.
Now, I know that what’s meant for me will never miss me— someone else’s light doesn’t dim mine…. and that shift in mindset has brought me peace.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Absolutely—there are three books that have deeply shaped the way I approach my career, both creatively and from a business mindset:
1. The Gift of Fear by Gavin De Becker This book taught me to trust my intuition, which is incredibly important in an industry where personal safety, boundaries, and reading people are crucial. It reminded me that listening to that inner voice isn’t just smart—it can be life-saving. It’s helped me navigate situations with more confidence and clarity, and I recommend it to anyone, especially women, entering this field.
2. My Body by Emily Ratajkowski
This collection of essays made me think deeply about ownership—of my body, my image, and my narrative. Emily’s perspective on modeling, fame, and the male gaze resonated with me, and it pushed me to think critically about how I show up in the industry, how I define my value, and the importance of reclaiming your story.
3. The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
This book has helped me stay grounded. Modeling can be unpredictable and fast-paced, and it’s easy to get caught up in comparison or anxiety about the future. This book brought me back to the present moment. It’s helped me stay centered, focused, and mentally strong—especially during the times when things don’t go as planned.
Each of these books speaks to different aspects of the modeling world—safety, self-worth, and presence—and I’d recommend them to anyone wanting to enter this industry with both strength and self-awareness.
