We were lucky to catch up with Sincerely Tokyo recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sincerely , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
Sometimes I wish I had a regular job for the benefits. But being a business owner is the best position. It makes you work extra hard because nothing is guaranteed. Being a business owner is rough but its all worth it at the end. So keep going no one said it would be easy.

Sincerely , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Last year I had to make a pivot in my career and honestly I trusted god. I am a Hairstylist first and a fashion designer immediately after. last year I decided at almost 40 to fulfill my next dream and that’s to be a actress and to work on set doingspecialeffect makeup. Ive been in a few movie as background. One of the movies i recently was in was “Ruth and Boaz a tyler perry film. I also did special effect makeup for lil boosie movie “Twins”, i also did special effects makeup for a series on tubi called “Sex Mogul 2” Not only did I pivot its been a life changing experience. Now I work on movie sets as a special effects makeup artist. i am also one of the Creative directors at Avantgarde Ent who created the American Soul Star Competition here in Atlanta. It’s actually one of my biggest accomplishments to date. I tell people sometimes you have to pivot and just come back for the other goals. One of the best decisions I made.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Sure, a year ago I was homeless living in my studio but still getting the work done. I was determined to keep my business while turning it into s another business. I decided I wanted to have a podcast which was successful. I had Ms. Rhonda Wright running for council woman here in Atlanta, Actor Javon Johnson from Tyler Perry sitcom ‘The oval’ to name a few. but I was still homeless. I then got to work on set while being homeless and that was helping me keep my business. No one knew I just knew the promise god had for me. Once I starting working on sets it help me out. Then I met my soul mate who had the same goals as me and now we work together doing media. I have a new place of business in Snellville. Im just grateful I stayed down and resilient. Im a tough cookie I been through alot. But one thing about me is as long as these hands can work Im never without money.
