We were lucky to catch up with Sin Perez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sin, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
From day one my mission has always been about putting people in a better position to further themselves for the better, when I started producing music it was only because I couldn’t find any producers so I taught myself and eventually taught others what I learned so they could get better and chase their dreams in music. Fast forward to today and I started my own music podcast to put artist in front of my fanbase so they could hopefully gain new listeners and support, I’ve spent allot of time and energy building what I have built but I never forgot how hard it was to get where I’m at so my mission right now is to help any artist out there regardless if they are new or have been making music for years I just want to help them through my platform.
Sin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into the music business really because I had several record labels call me about record deals but wanted to own what I create and give me a very small percentage (most record companies do that till this day) so I spent many days and night reading and researching on being in full control of my music so after sometime I started my music production company SinstrumentalProductionz LLC in 2015 and have been releasing music through my company every year since. In order to fully run a company it takes allot of work and discipline I will admit I missed out on allot of things as far as having fun in the nightlife cause I chose to go to the studio to make music but to me it’s been worth it because I’ve had more fun making music and performing that music live in some of the most known clubs and venues throughout Houston so I guess it’s been an even trade. Right now I’m most proud of the artist I’ve helped and put on game along the way in the past years and watching them start to grow and make moves musically as a boss and be in control of their music, I’ve spent so much time with these artist and everything I learned along the way on my own I shared with them so they could hit the ground running and that’s exactly what’s happening right now. My hustle and dedication is what separates me from everybody else, I get this crazy thrill and excitement knowing I have to seek the knowledge to push my name and brand higher up I actually love to learn new ways that could be helpful to my company because it’s important to need to remain as independent as possible so I want all the new people to know I’m very dedicated to this music and podcast and if they haven’t yet heard of me or seen anything of me it’s only a matter of time before they can’t turn on social media and other popular platforms without seeing me.
How did you build your audience on social media?
What I love about todays form of reaching the masses is you can literally sit at home and either make a written post, video post or just go live and talk to future potential fans/listeners and supporters. When I started making music I had to go out and talk to people in person to try to get them to buy my cds just to hear my music but these days I make the music in my home studio, get it mixed and mastered and then I release it through my distribution company and once it’s out I post the cover art with the song linked to it, I’ll make an actually short clip video describing my new release while it displays the cover art in the video and has the song playing in the background and then I go live on every social media platform that I use and I talk about my new release. Just by doing that I’ve built a good solid audience that supports my music. The most important key in building your audience is being active and consistent and building with each listener/fan/supporter.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
When I finally learned enough to start my company I started saving money to pay for my LLC, the previous year I had put out a mixtape and demo cd of original music that I fully produced and I sold them and most of the money that I made I kept it put away but during this time I was also working in the oil field so when income tax came I took whatever I still needed and put it together to complete the full amount and once I had the money and finally decided to make it legit I paid for it in full cause I felt like if I didn’t do it now then I would never do it but honestly when I look back it was probably the best move I made and I’m proud of myself for that.
