We recently connected with Simone Vezzali and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Simone, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Simone and Giacomo had been in the Restaurant business for many years before opening 2051 Cucina Italiana. When the space became available, they saw an opportunity in having a lots of room for customers and events, and an endless parking availability.
Offering the homemade flavors of their hometown Modena has always been in Simone and Giacomo’s mind, so it only a matter of finding the right situation.
Having an Authentic Italian Restaurant in a business environment seemed a bit odd to many, but Simone and Giacomo believed very much on their product and their experience.
Simone, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Simone Vezzali was the General Manager of one of the busiest Restaurants in the North County for 10 year (Vigilucci’s Cucina), as well as Giacomo Giovanetti managed a location of the same Company for 6 years, after owning a Restaurant in Brentwood, CA for a few years previously.
How’d you meet your business partner?
Simone and Giacomo met at the age of 5 years old at Soccer practice. Since then, they remained friends sharing every aspect of life growing up, from schools to parties, from soccer matches to graduations, from the first job gigs to moving to the United States to open a business together.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Simone and Giacomo opened a Restaurant pretty much from scratch, partnering up with the previous owners who handled a morning cafe. Going from corporate machines to small family-style operations took resilience and humility. Giacomo and Simone covered every position of a Restaurant in the beginning, from serving tables to washing dishes, from hand-making the product to cleaning and organizing, from basic marketing to administrative duties.
