We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Simone Talamona a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Simone thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

Coming from Italy, where fashion is a cultural cornerstone, I always had a passion for elegant, well-crafted clothing. When I arrived in the USA, I noticed a lack of truly personalized, high-quality tailoring services. People wore clothes that didn’t fit well or reflect their unique style. I knew I could offer something different.

In Italy, tailoring is an art, and I wanted to bring that tradition here. I believed everyone deserves to look and feel their best, and custom tailoring provides that perfect fit. The problem I aimed to solve was the absence of accessible, bespoke tailoring catering to individual needs.

What excited me most was transforming how people perceive themselves through clothing. Each piece is a collaboration, a unique story woven into the fabric. The joy and confidence my customers express validate my efforts. This venture isn’t just about filling a market gap; it’s about sharing my heritage and bringing a touch of Italian elegance to American fashion.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I have been fortunate to encounter many teachers throughout my life. When I moved to the US, New York City became my first home outside Italy. In NYC, I met several mentors and had the opportunity to learn various skills from different areas of the fashion industry. I worked for the best Italian shoemaker on Madison Avenue, learned the secrets of well-tailored suits from a master tailor on 57th Street, and gained insights into daily operations in a major fashion corporation on 5th Avenue.

At The Bespoke Club, we offer a range of bespoke tailoring services, creating custom-made suits, shoes, and accessories that reflect the individual style and personality of our clients. We solve the problem of finding perfectly fitting, high-quality garments that are both elegant and comfortable.

What sets The Bespoke Club apart from others is not just our products, but the exceptional experience we provide. Many of my competitors may share the same suppliers and knowledge, but our combination of outstanding customer service, personalized experience, and common sense truly makes us unique.

I am most proud of the relationships and friendships we build with our clients. At The Bespoke Club, we don’t just create garments; we create lasting bonds. Our clients know that they can rely on us for more than just tailoring—they can trust us to understand their needs and preferences deeply, fostering a sense of camaraderie and connection that enhances their overall experience.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

After a few years of partnership, in 2023 we decided to move forward with a joint venture with our tailoring provider. Emporio Tailoring is not only a leader in alterations in our market, but their craftsmanship and attention to detail are second to none. Joining forces with a great partner like ET has brought us a substantial number of clients, exceeding our previous expectations.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?

Instead of solely relying on traditional bank loans, I believed it was crucial to seek investors who could offer more than just financial support. I focused on finding investors who brought valuable experience, industry knowledge, and fresh ideas to the table. Now, two of them are part of the board of directors of TBC USA and I am lucky enough to be able to call them my friends. Joseph Benlolo and Angel Nicolas. With theirs expertise and vision, combined with the necessary funding, have been instrumental in enriching The Bespoke Club with insights and connections that are vital for its growth and success.
