Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Simone Henderson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, Simone thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.

Life is all about taking risks when your in the industry of modeling and wanted to pursue acting. But before I go into that I have to start from the beginning.I would say If it wasn’t for sports I wouldn’t have dabbled with the idea of wanting to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Growing up I was always playing sports my whole family has an athletic background. My parents were also very strict and hard on me growing up probably because I was the only girl in the family. I remember when playing sports they would constantly be reminding me don’t waste your talents always go for it even when people tell you you can’t or it’s too hard, and from that I ended up being the first student in my high to earn a full ride scholarship for volleyball to the university of Alabama. From there I learned that I wanted to be in the entertainment industry, from the fans to the, traveling, working hard, doing interviews, commercials, I loved every minute of it and knew this was the career for me. Sports had also gave me the tools to be strong, committed, determined, hard working and competitive. Fast forward to after I graduated college i ended up moving to Georgia because that’s where people go to pursue there acting careers. That had to be my first risk that I took, not only did I not know anyone or a job but I was determined and I knew that this was where I needed to be. The first risk I took I knew I was going in the right direction. I ended up getting a job at hooters and getting my own apartment within in the year. I knew I wanted to act but I was getting allot of compliments on the fact that I should model always growing up so I figured that would be a good way to start. I used to reach out to photographers through social media and see if they wanted to collab so I could get my portfolio built up and that went very well to the point where every week I was shooting. I did music videos as well to get my foot in the door. I also was able to get casted for love island made it all the way to the very end before they decided to go with someone else to be put on the live show. There is always risks you take for this career and sometimes you break down from fighting so hard and not giving up. I’ve always been so close and I’m just ready to get my big break. The next risk I took was taking a chance and going to Miami swim week with no shows booked and not even knowing if I’ll be casted for shows. From that risk I was casted for big shows like “Black Tape Project” and “Camilla” who has been in vogue. That was definitely one highlight of my career and taking it to the next step by going to New York fashion week and walking for Black Tape Project again and walking for the designer “ Dust of Gods”. Each risk I have taken towards my career has both been beneficial. But you can’t just take a risk and pray for the best you got to work hard, train and put yourself in the position where your confident it will work out because you put there work in, and I can’t wait for more risks I need to take in order to get to where I need to be.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is simone henderson I was born and raised in San Diego California, I am the oldest girl in the family of 3. I was an all- American athlete for volleyball. I got a full ride scholarship for the university of Alabama. How I got into the industry was by taking a chance and moving to Georgia where they tell you that’s where you should go if you want a career in acting. And from there I applied myself I contacted many photographers in the area asking them if they wanted to shoot with me so I could build my portfolio. Always going to power shoots to build my network. Did many music videos made friends with other models and casting directors. I always had a goal for myself and I made sure achieved every one of them before I moved to the next goal. What I believe sets me from others is my determination, competitiveness, willingness to not give up and knowing I’m going to be very successful just a matter of when God wants to give me my big break. I am most proud of how far I have come, I am proud that in just almost three years I have accomplished so many goals have done soo many things in a short amount of time, and that’s what keeps me going. I’m proud that I never gave up on myself when people told me “oh everyone is a model here, that’s going to be hard to stand out here”. One thing about me Is the more negative comments about how I can’t get somewhere the more determination I have to accomplish it. One thing I want people to know about simone is I’m a very humble person, very outgoing, funny, personable, caring and a great friend. I make mistakes but I truly believe you can’t grow without making them.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

For me the most rewarding aspect about being an artist is being recognized for your achievements. I have never been the type to go out my way to talk about my achievements, I am a very humble person I always believe that I’m not even close to my potential yet so I feel I’m not even worthy of talking about myself like that yet hahah. But the fulfillment I get when my friends, family or someone I don’t know comes up to me and says “I see you out here doing your thang” or “I’m so proud of you” it makes me feel so good inside, keeps me going.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

My end goal that I see myself doing is being a top model for big designers such as “Chanel”, “ Balenciaga”, “DolceGabanna” walking in numerous big runways shows but also being a amazing actress as well. Being in tv shows, some action movies, thrillers, comedy and having my own business. I have big goals for me myself but I truly believe so does God and that’s why I strive so hard to accomplish them and to be great because i truly believe it’s in Gods plan.
