We recently connected with Simone Durant and have shared our conversation below.
Simone, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
There was a veteran client that was referred to me by the VA. She was experiencing her second bout of cancer therapy, and was about to start losing all of her hair. She came in with her sister, which was also her best friend. They spoke of all of the moments of their childhood and concluded the wig should be her sun kissed, naturally highlighted adolescent hair. I assured her I could order it for her. However, upon speaking to my vendor it was not longer being manufactured. I was so determined to make sure she received the hair of her dreams, I spent 3 days recreating this seamless blonde, red, brownish hair color. When I put the wig on her they both couldn’t believe it looked so much like the hair from her youth that they started tell me stories about their mom, and how she was have felt in that moment. Her sister was completely speechless and full of tears. The patient was so grateful she could barely make it through the testimonial she was so happy to give. She asked me to send her the picture of me and her because that experience gave her back her self esteem. We cried so hard that day. And that’s why I do it.

Simone, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, I’m Simone! My 13 years of being a hairstylist have taught me that every person deserves to experience their best self. I too have struggled with hair loss, both personally, and within my family. This is why I’m so passionate about supporting those who have lost confidence in our industry’s ability to provide proven, effective hair loss, hair replacement and thinning solutions.
My journey to becoming an expert started as a young girl cutting the hair style off of the back a braid hair packages and creating hairstyle catalogs. However I found my way at Pinellas Technical College, where she earned Cosmetology license. Seeking to expand my knowledge and expertise, she went on to receive my Hair Loss Certification from the reknown Toni Love Training Center.
With a deep understanding of the emotional toll hair loss can take on individuals, I committed myself to assisting clients in restoring their self-esteem, self-image, and overall quality of life. I also works closely with insurance providers and Veteran Hospitals to help veterans facing hair loss due to medical conditions.
My dedication to giving back is further demonstrated by her collaboration with non-profit organizations like Wigs for Kids and Children with Hair Loss, allowing me assist in providing free hair replacement solutions to children in need. Complimentary consultations are always available to assist in exploring your options.
Furthermore, my passion for making a positive impact extends to the local community as I volunteer within the community and school system. By teaching children about the importance of self-care, self-image, and empowering them to feel confident and comfortable in their own skin.
I pride myself on creating a safe space for clients. At The Hair Dive, men, women and children facing hair loss & thinning are guaranteed a personalized and customized approach to their challenges. Together, we can revitalize their confidence and achieve real, long-term hair restoration solutions. Complimentary consultations are always available to assist in exploring your options.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
I believe the are three things that truly matter in order to be successful in my field: respect, listening, and empathy.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
When I first started doing hair professionally it wasn’t because I was good at it, because I was. It was because I needed to feed my baby. So I kind of just fell into it. I had to unlearned how to do business as a whole. Owning your own business is not just take the money and deduct the expenses. There is an actual system.
