We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Simon Isaza. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Simon below.
Simon, appreciate you joining us today. Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?
My hero has always been my father, Gabriel Humberto Isaza. He has always been a hard working and humble man, who has always done everything the right way, the honest way. He has never given up, even after going through multiple tragedies in his life. From managing different businesses/companies to leaving his country in search of a better life for himself and his family. One of the few lessons I learned from him was to always move forward, never backwards even in the darkest of times. As long as you can see the next step in front of you never give up just keep moving forward.
The way those lessons have influenced me in my journey is that no matter how many doors close in your face or how many obstacles get in your way, hard work always pays off at the end. You are capable of doing anything you put your mind and your heart into. Focus on your goal and always stay positive.
Simon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For folks who may have not read about FantaZworld the best way to describe us is reliable, customer friendly and very affordable, we are a small local business who chose to start thinking about the consumer, the people that actually matter, we make custom T-shirts, hooded sweaters, zip up sweaters, joggers, aprons, hats, towels, and much more. we use vinyl, black and white and full color sublimation. 100% cotton, 100% polyester, or polyester/cotton blend. the types of shirts we use are same type of shirts that your big name brand companies use. (Gildan, George, Bella canvas, next level, Anvil, Etc…) what sets FantaZworld apart from the others is we do not charge you a limb for our items unlike others do.
we work with our costumer the best we can to have a solution to every concern or question they might have, we work with their personal idea or we can come up with something together, whatever design/logo they have we can work with it. we work one on one with the client to make sure everything is exactly what they want and how they want it to make sure the final product is at the clients perfection and likeness.
The way we got into this industry/business is because we were tired of paying hundreds of dollars for our clothes and looking like everybody else. you know. Growing up every body wants to look good and impress their peers, impress others, make a good first impression to every person you meet. with your name brand clothes but when you start to realize and look around you are spending all this crazy amounts of money for your “gear” and other people have the same T-shirt, same shoes, same hats, same hoodie as you. so we decided why not invest in our own brand, make or own T-shirts and charge way less. but how?
What can we do different compare to what every body else out there is doing. we had to sit back and think about it.
we came up with our slogan “Live your life like a fantasy” basically do not let any one tell you how to live or how you dress, we gave the costumer all the freedom, use whatever idea you want to use, whatever design, whatever font, whatever color T-shirt/vinyl you want. we will do it for them. as long as we can print it out or cut it out with our machines we will make it happen for them. and still be on the affordable side.
The main problem we solve for our clients is when they first come to us and really do not know what design they want how they want it or even what would look good, we have to sit down and pay attention to what the client is interested in have a bit of a conversation with them and come up with a design and an idea, present it to our client and see if they like or if it needs any changes. we will not print/cut/press anything until the client is happy with what we present forward.
what we are most proud about is that since we have started no matter how hard things got. or how many downs there was before any ups we have never given up, that has brought plenty of new clients our way from the local motorcycle community to wedding planners, smoke shops and pressure washing companies, to clients all over the nation from New York to Texas, North Carolina to California. WE even got some international orders from Colombia to Spain.
This journey has been like a roller coaster basically had to buckle up hold on smile and enjoy the ride.
The main thing we want our potential clients/followers/fans to know about us is that no matter what you need whether it be T-shirts for a church group, youth groups, sport teams, sport events, birthdays, family reunions, single orders, bulk orders, koozies, Aprons for a cook out. we are her to help you smile help you feel happy and comfortable with your order.
We do not want to become famous we just want everybody wearing FantaZworld merchandise but no matter what we will always be affordable and will always make our clients happy.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
A story from our journey that illustrates our resilience is the one time one of our clients came to us with an order for a few T-shirts needed with a specific glittery shinny golden vinyl and needed that order done in the following two days, we advised the client to go ahead send us their logo and design needed and we will go ahead and be more than happy to take care of it. Once PDF of logo, size and color of T-shirts were received and determined. we proceeded to find the right specific color of the vinyl that they had their eyes lock on. We moved forward and printed/cut/pressed the design. Sent the client a photo of the first T-shirt which they Loved and advised us to go ahead and proceed with the rest. By the next day our client had her order in her hands and very very happy with it. which made us very happy because she could now arrive at her event with her whole team wearing matching T-shirts.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
The story of how we put our initial capital we needed to start our business is not really too long of a story. before coronavirus was here, my wife and I always wanted to start our own business, we had both been working since we were very young and were pretty tired of busting our behinds to make other people money, so we came to a conclusion we both had 9-5 jobs she worked for an auto locksmith and I ran a CNC machine. well we saved up some of our paychecks and proceeded to start buying all the equipment we needed not knowing how or what were doing but by trial and error we have gotten as far as we have.
