Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Simmie Sangian. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Simmie , thanks for joining us today. Can you share a story about the kindest thing someone has done for you and why it mattered so much or was so meaningful to you?
The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me is giving me a chance. As an actor, you go through highs and lows. From my college audition to get accepted, fast forward to every audition room I stepped foot in – I was given a chance. The simple fact that you are in the room with people who inspire you, and that you get to show off a little bit of your talent, means the world to me. I have gone through many audition processes, I’ve booked jobs, I haven’t booked jobs, but the fact that your talent is seen in a room full of people who can help you fulfill your dreams even more than they are fulfilled, is a huge step in the right door. So many auditions I have done have led me to do way more than booking that specific job, and I’ll always be grateful for that.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My names Simmie Sangian. I am a British Indian actress that moved to LA at the age of 18 to pursue my dreams. I went to the New York Film Academy and got my bachelors in acting. Once I graduated, I immediately started auditioning. My biggest goal is to educate through my art. I love working on projects that inspire me and that will inspire audiences. I am most proud of my growth in the industry so far, and am excited as to where it will progress as times goes on and I am part of more projects.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the ability and power I have to move audiences. To make viewers feel something through the way I perform. I love taking viewers on a journey mentally and emotionally. That will never get old for me. Also, educating audiences through my art. That is so rewarding to me. If I can shed light on important topics around the world through my art I will always be fulfilled.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
The best thing society can do to help artists is to show support and love! Go to the fringe festivals, pay for a movie ticket, go and watch a live comedy show. That support makes an artist feel more happy and fulfilled and driven to continue on their craft!
