Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Simari Turner . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Simari , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?

Simari T has released his first studio album, ‘DOPAMINE’ on May 25th, 2023. ‘DOPAMINE’ is the first time he showcases his abilities as a producer. ‘DOPAMINE’ encompasses Simari T’s journey to find love, showcasing the different stages of love-from puppy love to dependency. Simari T is excited for listeners to hear about his journey to self-love, prioritizing his mental health. ‘DOPAMINE’ discusses the rollercoaster of emotions one may experience within a relationship; they must also understand the line between love and addiction. “Relationships can weigh heavy on a person, especially when they don’t fully know how to love themself. I am in awe with how the album came together, and how ‘raw’ this project feels. I believe it is a very experimental album, as I begin to transition into R&B.” -Simari T

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Simari T is a singer-songwriter who just obtained his Master’s from Savannah State University.

He is also an actor, guitarist, photographer, and producer. He was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he first discovered his passion for music after watching an episode of American Idol. He began to grow more fond of the art after performing in local talent shows at 9. From church performances with the choir to vocal performances at Disney World with the school choir, his dream of becoming an artist solidified.

His performances and extensive training have provided him with extensive classical training and an abundance of experience in front of a camera experience he began to write music in grade 6 to impress his peers, but through repetition & practice, lyricism became one of his passions.

Simari T is similar to artists such as Giveon, SiR, Smino, and Masego. Some of his other passions include fitness, fashion, and exploration.

The road has not always been easy. Simari T has faced many obstacles on his journey as a musician. These obstacles include copyright issues with local producers, failed musical groups, and pursuing higher education. He has had to fight for his voice to be heard, while still pursuing higher education. His goal is to set an example for others, who are told to decide between their dreams and pursuing higher education. ‘There is no need to settle to be successful. Who said there was only one path to greatness’.Through his journey, Simari T had to learn to trust in his voice.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?

‘I believe the best way to support a creative is to pour into them as much as you can. There are times a creative may doubt themself, needing encouragement from their supprt system. It can be as simple as a like or words of endearment, which ultimately lets the artists know they are seen and heard.”- Simari T

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

“I believe one of the most rewarding things about being an artist is when people can empathize with my art. It is truly a magical moment when someone dissects the lyrics and shares the similarities to their personal lives. For instance, I remember recording ‘Jericho’ in the studio. The audio engineer was mixing down my record when his next session arrived. They became curious about my lyrics and began sharing personal experiences in relation to the song. The experience was organic, and one I shall never forget.-Simari T
