We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Silvia Loney a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Silvia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I am Chef Sil of Chef Sils Vegan Kitchen. I’ve been vegan for the past 4 years and started my journey after my fathers cancer diagnosis. Since cancer runs in my family , I decided to take control of my health !
My goal is to veganize dishes we all grew up eating, but in a healthier way. I’m also plant- based nutrition certified . From recipes to tips , I’m here to help everyone on their journey.

Chef Sils Vegan Kitchen offers a twist on the traditional sushi with a Latin flair and of course full of flavor ! Changing your perspective on plant-based eats.
We began our journey by veganizing dishes from our childhood and taking meals we could no longer enjoy since our lifestyle change. CSVK strives to set the example that this lifestyle is sustainable and can make a huge difference in your life.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
We engaged with our community through local events, social media and by becoming involved in our community. It has helped build the trust and hopefully created some loyal customers!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Chef Sil became a mother at 18. She struggled with an abusive relationship for many years and knew that she wanted better for herself and her children. This is where her entrepreneurship dream began.. She knew she had alot to overcome before this could become a reality.
