We recently connected with Silverpath and have shared our conversation below.
Silverpath, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Our album is by far the most meaningful project we have ever worked on as a band. It is the culmination of the life journeys of the four of us separately and together up until this point in time.
The circumstances and life choices that all had to fall into place in order to for us all to cross each others paths and decide to play together in this band is simply mind blowing when you think about it.
We don’t have the story of four people who grew up together and went to the same high school and decided to start a band…. at all haha
We all grew up thousands of kilometres apart across Canada and Brazil!
We all came to Toronto at different times for different reasons and yet in the wake of a global pandemic we put a rock band together and wrote and recorded a rock album. This album is so meaningful to us because it tells our story so far as individuals and as a band.
It is an authentic artistic collaboration between four people who all bring equal value to the story and the music we’ve created together. This album, tells the story of our lives.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
We are Silverpath. A female fronted hard rock band formed in Toronto, Ontario in 2021. Consisting of four members.
Our singer Mikayla Cassack of Newmarket Ontario,
Guitarist Joe McMasters of Nanton Alberta,
Bassist André Dalben of Lençóis Paulista Brazil,
and Matheus Gasques of São Paulo, Brazil.
We met each other in Toronto over a period of 4 years between 2018 and 2021. We came together over our passion for music and our desire to create music of our own. Joe Moved to Ontario in late 2017 with the intention to form a band. In 2018 he met Matheus in which he formed a band called 369. That band broke up after a couple of years and the two moved forward together in search of new members. We found Andre in the summer of 2020 when he eventually answered a Kijiji add that Matheus had posted. The three of us started putting the music together and after 6 more months of searching for a singer Andre finally discovered Mikayla in early 2021 through a website called Bandmix. Once our line up was complete that’s when the real fun began as we had finally had our band!
Over the next few months we met up as much as possible in Joe’s garage in Toronto (the two car detached garage shown on our album cover)
There we worked to create and polish our music and that we did. Once Covid restrictions allowed us to we started playing shows, saving money and began to record our self titled debut record
“Silverpath” a name Mikayla came up with while shooting band names back and forth with Joe.
We started recording the album with Joe’s Roomate, school trained audio engineer Kyle Gamble. We teamed up with Harley Tamblin as well as Luc Chiasson to work on the album as well.
Recording parts everywhere from drums in Harley’s studio to guitar in Andre’s coffee roastery and even tried vocals in Kyle’s bedroom! It was quite the adventure to say the least! Due to playing shows to raise money, working, travelling and health issues it took just over 3 YEARS for us to release the album after beginning recording on Matheus birthday on October 1, 2021.
This journey has been like nothing else the four of us have ever experienced from the first day we all met in Joe’s Garage until the release of our debut
Album on Friday November 22 this year.
It has given us a whole new respect for the perseverance it takes to create and record music as a band. There is nothing else like it.
We would like to give the readers and any potential fans some insight on the work and energy and commitment it takes to write and record music today and express how our passion for self expression fuelled our journey.
All we want is the for our music to be heard and enjoyed by the people who resonate with it. Music can have such a power in our lives and we would love the opportunity to have a positive impact in as many lives as possible.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a an artist or creative is genuinely connecting with other human beings.
Whether that is watching a crowd enjoying our music while we are performing it live and just enjoying that moment together or having someone tell you that they like a song you’ve written or even just an encouraging comment on a piece of content we have shared. Music connects us. It removes the barriers we put between ourselves and others and it makes friends out of complete strangers in an instant.
To be in a room full of people especially people you don’t know and have out music be the connecting element between us and them or them and others is simply magic. There is no better feeling than uniting with people and being reminded that we are all one.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Spread the word! Word of mouth is the best promotion you can get. If you genuinely enjoy the work of an artist or creative, sharing your excitement for the art with friends, family and anyone else who you think might also enjoy it is a great way to support the artist.
People trust people they know and like and spreading the word about an artist you enjoy will likely bring more positive attention to the art and ultimately bring opportunities so that they have access to the resources they need to continue creating the art!
