We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Silvana Carranza. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Silvana below.
Silvana, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I’m more than happy as a bussines owner, I stoped thinking about having a regular job just a few years ago to be honest.
I thought about going back to a regular job when I was starting a whole new business again here in a new country, with a new language, a new beginning after having my own business back in my home country Perú for several years.
At the beginning, I couldn’t make as much as I wanted to make ends meet since no body knew my name, dedication, and quality of my products yet (I had been in several radio and TV stations before in Perú), so I decided to start with a few farmers markets, which helped me to have my first new clients. This was one of the first tools to help me build a solid book of business and get myself known in the community. I then started working with different non-profits and was later showcased in a TV food competition.
And of course then you realize all the good things you have by being your own boss. I’m the kind of person who love to manage their own time to be able to leave a legacy.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a Peruvian international chef and pastry chef who promote Peruvian gastronomy through my social media and who also have a Peruvian bakery offering the best Alfajores in San Diego. We bake everything from scratch and by pre orders, so everything is at its best quality, and we also provide our cookies to many stores and cafes.
We reduced our menu a year ago to simplify the production and offer all our best sellers, but we also bake special requests to satisfy all our customers.
I’m very proud of my products and my genuine service, we always strive to keep the quality of all our products, including our wholesale products to are also constantly updated, and if there’s ever an error, we also know how to keep a client happy.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
The main key to built a good audience in social media is by being yourself and constantly uploading content.
The content has to be attractive and relevant, so your audience is always getting new information that is helpful and will keep them engaged.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
The quality of my products and my experience as a chef with renowned chefs, and being myself also helped me to build a good reputation.
