We were lucky to catch up with Sigourny Love recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sigourny, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success in the salon industry, especially in an established city, requires a mix of innovation, passion, and client love. I have learned early on in my life, that accomplishment doesn’t come from motivation, it comes from discipline. At times when the days are long, motivation feels like a distant friend, but I always come back to my end goal which is to help people feel and look their best and it allows me to show up consistently and whole-heartedly.
Sigourny, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I began my journey in transforming clients, with the mentorship of my dear friend Melissa. She taught me so much about the industry and how to support peoples needs. When she passed, I knew I wanted to continue her legacy and it pushed me to grow into where I am today. From taking clients in my kitchen, to a stand alone space right in the core of an established city.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I remember how excited I was to hit 3k on my instagram account once my business took off. Shortly after my account was hacked and I lost everything. I decided to not dwell in starting over, but looked at it as an opportunity to shift my focus and hire someone to take this side of my business on. Now, I am not so focused on “followers” in general, but in reaching the right audience and providing people with informative and aesthetically appeasing content.
Do you have multiple revenue streams – if so, can you talk to us about those streams and how your developed them?
One of my biggest successes is the hair stylists I’ve brought on and the sub-let businesses I have onboarded in my space.
