We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sighmon. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sighmon below.
Sighmon, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
Being an artist and creative in general has always been a blessing. I’m the happiest version of myself whenever i’m creating, regardless of it gets heard/shown to anyone. It’s a form of therapy for me so any time that i am upset or unhappy, i channel that into my art.
As an up and coming artist i’ve always had to have a regular job. It’s definitely a love hate relationship because i would love to be able to live off of my music but having a break from that gives me clarity. Having to balance that to support myself while doing all the things a creative does definitely takes a toll but i wouldn’t want it any other way.
Sighmon, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Sighmon (pronounced ‘Simon’) I’m 25 years old and I’m a music artist & producer born and raised in Naples, Florida. I started making beats in early 2018 and got into songwriting in 2019. I make a variety of music stemming from hip hop & alternative rap to indie pop to rnb. I produce, arrange, record, mix, and master myself and the homies when they need as well as editing my own videos. I make music for the love of making it and anyone that rocks with it is the cherry on top! my passion is making music that i like and want to hear so i hope something resonates with you!
Have you ever had to pivot?
i graduated highschool and went to college and ended up majoring in business management. I was just going to go because i was really into football and wanted to play at the next level. Halfway through my first semester i started getting into music and ended up falling in love with it by the time season and the semester ended. A mix of football not feeling the same and some family issues i moved back home and re enrolled to a local college still unsure of making the jump. I completed another semester and a half, sat with myself and came to the realization that i was just wasting time and money going to school for something i didn’t even want to do, just following my friends on the same path. Finals week came around at the end of that semester & i christmas tree’d all my finals, dropped out, and started pursuing music.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Although I’m making music and creating art purely for myself and my enjoyment, my dream in this is to give back to those that helped me and stood by me throughout this process, have all my homies win when i win. Put everyone i care about in positions to build them up.
