We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sierra Stanford a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sierra, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
I came up with the name of my business by brainstorming with my business coach. My brand represents a woman that is not afraid to spend money on her wardrobe and who wants to feel luxurious plus always best dressed. The first two letters of my name “Si” are included in my brand name Chic Currensi. I absolutely love the name of my brand!

Sierra, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I love to dress really well and put together fabulous outfits for just about any reason! I am well-known for color-blocking and wearing bright colors. Being fabulous is me!
I have had dreams of being a fashion designer since 2013 but I never really knew how to break into the industry. I started a fashion blog in 2017 as a catalyst to enter the fashion space. It opened up lots of opportunities to meet other fashion bloggers in the Charlotte, NC area. Being in this creative space allowed me to realize that I wanted to try working as a personal stylist. I started my personal styling business called Styled by Si back in 2017 as well and I serve corporate professional women “who want to increase their confidence and are ready to command the room”. However, I still had the itch to get into fashion design. I began sampling different items in 2023 and I am currently still in the sampling process. While I am still navigating getting my fashion line up and running, I decided to launch Chic Currensi in early February 2024 where I sell pieces that are curated based on a woman who wants to “feel luxurious and always best dressed”. Chic Currensi has quality, eye catching pieces that are guaranteed to make you memorable wherever you go.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
This isn’t my first time launching a boutique….it’s actually my fourth. I started 3 other boutiques before and failed at each one; however, they are my reasons why I am so excited about Chic Currensi. I learned a lot from failing three times before. It is pushing me to do things differently. I work on my business everyday and invest in learning about the proper ways to market my business to customers. I look forward to talking about my business to anyone that I meet and show them website. Lots of days are tough and I might cry but it just means that I have to keep going if I am going to be successful.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
As everyone says, use your 9-5 as your first investor. That’s exactly what I did.
