Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sierra Pierce. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Sierra thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My fondest memories growing up were going to my Grandmother’s house every Saturday. Two of my Aunts also lived on the same street, so we would all gather every week! My Grandma had 9 children, so you can imagine all of us cousins and friends just stopping by! This is where my passion of family and family life started.
I’d always wanted a big family of my own so that we too could create simple memories, just enjoying each other, laughing, and being there for each other through LIFE. My Grandma did an awesome job keeping the family together and connected.
When in became a Mom for the first time, I realized how quickly the first two years went, and how sad I was that he was no longer a baby. I told myself that I would try to slow down the time, whatever that looked like. I also missed traveling when I didn’t have kids. So we began taking advantage of every second of everyday, finding new parks, new experiences, new ice cream shops, new little towns…and would take tons of photos! I wanted to have memories for all of us.
People would say all the time that they wouldn’t remember Disney, or certain trips because they’re little and I remember thinking that I would remember, and I want my children to see the fun experiences they had whether they remember or not. So I made it my mission to show, and hopefully inspire, families that no matter the age travel, experience life, create fun memories because this season of motherhood doesn’t last long. When they grow up, they’ll remember how loved and enjoyed they felt. They’ll become more compassionate and open to new people and new things, thus fostering a healthy family bond which then translates to healthy communities.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Sure, I am a wife and Mom of three. Born and raised in New York and been living in Atlanta for 10 years. I am a full time Family Travel creator and blogger, documenting fun places to travel with your family, fun experiences around town, and places to eat! We also like to show how to have fun in your home in the simple things.
I’m so proud of the growth in our photography, video work, and the time invested to really get to know the brands we work with. I love to tell the unique story of each brand through the small details, which I love to highlight through photography. We’ve taken the time to invest in conferences, webinars, new equipment, and networking to learn new strategies and angles. We’ve been able to cross over from just “fun” outings, to adventurous, luxury and boutique style and have really made ourselves marketable within the travel industry.
Even through the travel, HOME is most important to us and we really have a great time with each other, making each other laugh and play pranks. I’m so excited to share more of it this year. For me, that’s the most important and I think we do a good job being authentic in that. That’s not to say our family does not go through things or hasn’t struggled, but more so pushing through them reminding ourselves that family, and investing in it, is what’s most valuable.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I think it’s important to remember the power of relationship in any context whether sales or everyday life.
I’ve worked in healthcare for over 16 years, management role for 10 of those years, and I’ve seen the difference in quality of care when you have a team that is engaged in the company they work for vs. the team that is disengaged. The company that has the higher quality of care is the one that invests in nurturing their team with appreciation, gratitude, generosity, and consistency. They’re generous in their time, they’re consistent in follow up and their word, they show gratitude for the families that entrust their loved ones with them, and they appreciate their team and celebrate the big and small. When people feel heard and appreciated, and there’s consistency in positive responses there’s a natural feeling of trust which creates loyalty.
Working with people for so many years, hearing the stories of my residents and family members…of my team, I think I’ve developed the ability to really hear what the need is; what a brand needs. What my family needs. And in that need, I work to show that my word is good and follow up with action. Being open to change and hearing a different perspective…it’s all been so helpful in creating and maintaining both my personal and professional relationships.
Although I’m no longer working in that capacity as of last year, I still engage with those team members and that particular community. They became my family. Same goes for the brands I work with. I still engage, I still have gratitude after the work; they’ve also become family. One and done work is good, but my goal is always to establish a relationship.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Ultimately my goal for our brand is to use our platforms to give back to families and communities. I went to college with the intent of becoming a family psychologist because I’ve always been fascinated by the “why”. What makes people do what they do?
The answer always seemed to go back to family. What environments they were raised in, their experiences, etc. You notice on crime shows, they always start with how both victim and suspect grew up? It’s important in all of our stories. And not to make excuses but to heal and to change for our future.
With that, our goal is to help foster family bonding, and experiences together. To inspire families to get silly and let children be children, as they only have a few short years until they’re off to college. To promote caring for our own mental health as parents so that we can show up better for our families. I know finances and food insecurity are huge stressors for many. Knowing what resources are available are important in creating healthy homes, and we want to be a part of that.
