We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sierra Levesque. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sierra below.
Sierra, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
As soon as my parents realized that I was interested in music and singing, they enrolled me in local musical theatre productions at the age of three. From there, I began learning piano and taking singing lessons at age seven. Then, they wanted to expose me to as many instruments as possible, so I started taking drum lessons at age 10, guitar lessons at age 12, and bass lessons at age 13. This has truly helped me to be very self-sufficient when it comes to music writing, recording, and performing and I am forever grateful for their support and encouragement!

Sierra, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Sierra Levesque, and I’m an 18-year-old Rock singer/songwriter, guitarist, pianist, bassist, and drummer from Pembroke, Ontario, Canada. I began taking singing and piano lessons at age seven, and my love of music and songwriting truly grew more and more after that. I got my first ever flying V guitar at the age of twelve, and that’s when I began taking guitar lessons from a local teacher. As the years went on, I began performing anywhere I could, whether it was on a flatbed truck, or in the back of a sketchy garage, I was performing! Unfortunately in 2020, my guitar teacher was diagnosed with brain cancer. That’s when I had to begin looking for a new teacher, and I found Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal (ex Guns N Roses, Asia, Sons of Apollo). He really added a new element to my playing, and I began learning about how to play lead guitar. This lead to me posting a lot of cover songs and videos on social media throughout quarantine during the COVID pandemic. From there, I grew a following for myself on all platforms, and by 2023, I knew that it was time to release my debut song, “GET OFF MY STAGE”. I just released my second song, “WRONG ABOUT YOU”, and now everyone can hear my music on all platforms!

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My main goal in life that everything is currently working towards is to perform my own music on a tour across the world. I’m trying my best to build up my music and live performance catalogue while reaching new fans to hopefully achieve my goal. I feel that each minute of work that I put into my own music, is a minute less that I’ll be waiting for new opportunities to arise.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I started building my audience at the beginning of 2020, when I had under 1,000 followers on instagram and even less on all other platforms. I posted video covers of songs by my favorite bands, whether it was me singing or playing guitar, or both! I was very grateful and surprised to see that a lot of my videos were shared by the original artists and bands, which helped me gain followers. The coolest share was when AC/DC shared my video to their story, and I gained over 600 followers in one day! I’ve continued doing that and it has proven to be a very helpful posting tactic. My best advice for someone just starting out would be to tag any artist and member of a band if you cover a song, and don’t be afraid to message people and kindly ask them to follow you and to share your video! A little can go a long way!
