Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sierra Driscoll. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Sierra, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I launched this magazine with the belief that fostering connections among wedding vendors is vital to the success of our industry and to the overall experience we provide to couples on one of the most important days of their lives. The wedding industry thrives on collaboration, creativity, and trust, and building strong relationships within this community ensures that we continue to grow together. Meaningful partnerships not only enhance our businesses but also elevate the level of service we offer, creating truly unforgettable celebrations for our clients.
This magazine was also born out of a desire to shine a spotlight on the immense talent, hard work, and dedication that vendors bring to the table. From florists and photographers to planners, designers, and bakers, every vendor plays an integral role in turning a vision into reality. Too often, the incredible effort behind the scenes goes unnoticed, and I wanted to create a space where their artistry could be celebrated and showcased.
Additionally, I understand that planning a wedding can feel like a daunting and overwhelming process for couples. There are endless decisions to make, trends to follow, and details to manage, all while balancing the emotional and financial aspects of the occasion. My goal is to provide a trusted resource where couples can find helpful tips, emerging trends, and creative inspiration to guide them along the way. This magazine is not just about ideas—it’s about creating a sense of ease, excitement, and confidence for brides and grooms as they plan their dream day.
At its core, this magazine is a celebration of connection and collaboration. It’s a space where vendors can showcase their craft, couples can discover fresh ideas, and everyone involved in the wedding journey can feel inspired and supported. Most importantly, it’s a way to ensure that our amazing local vendors are recognized and credited for their exceptional contributions to this industry. Together, we can continue to create extraordinary weddings and lasting memories.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For my readers who I’m just “meeting”, My name is Sierra and I own Bloom & Bride Magazine as well as Oak & Rae Floral. Beyond my work in the floral and wedding world, I am also a proud mother who understands the importance of balancing creativity, family, and community. My passion for celebrating local vendors and helping couples turn their dreams into reality inspired me to create a magazine that not only highlights the hard work of industry professionals but also serves as a trusted resource for wedding planning tips, trends, and inspiration.
Through Bloom & Bride Magazine, I combine my love for design, experience as a vendor, and dedication to uplifting my community, which I believe makes me an invaluable advocate for the wedding industry.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe my reputation within the market has been built on a foundation of authenticity, hard work, and a genuine passion for what I do. As a florist, I’ve always prioritized creating unique, high-quality designs that reflect my clients’ personalities and visions. Attention to detail and a commitment to exceeding expectations have been at the heart of my business.
Equally important has been my focus on building strong relationships—whether with clients, fellow vendors, or other professionals in the industry. I make it a point to communicate openly, collaborate effectively, and support others in their work. Over time, this approach has created trust and mutual respect, which are invaluable in this business.
I also believe consistency plays a big role. Delivering exceptional results, time and time again, helps establish credibility and ensures people know they can rely on me. Lastly, I’ve embraced opportunities to give back to the community, whether by participating in events, sharing knowledge, or helping couples navigate the sometimes-overwhelming process of wedding planning. This sense of connection and service has helped me stand out and foster a positive reputation within the market.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When I first started building my audience on social media, I focused on showcasing my work authentically and consistently. I began by sharing high-quality photos of my floral designs, highlighting the creativity and effort that went into each arrangement. Over time, I realized that people were drawn not just to the finished products but also to the behind-the-scenes stories—the process, the challenges, and the little moments that brought the designs to life. By letting my personality shine through and connecting on a personal level, I was able to create a sense of trust and relatability with my audience.
Engaging with followers was another big part of my strategy. I made it a point to respond to comments, answer questions, and interact with others in the wedding and floral communities. This not only helped me build relationships but also showed my audience that I genuinely valued their support.
Consistency was key. I stuck to a posting schedule, created content that aligned with my brand, and paid attention to what my audience responded to the most. Over time, I experimented with trends, videos, and other features like reels and stories to keep my content fresh and engaging. This all helped me establish what I believe to be value in our wedding industry and helped me start the socials and concept for the bridal magazine.
For anyone just starting to build their social media presence, my advice would be to focus on authenticity and quality over quantity. Share what you’re passionate about and be consistent with your messaging. Don’t be afraid to show the human side of your business—people love to connect with real stories and personalities. Take the time to engage with your audience and collaborate with others in your niche. And most importantly, be patient. Building an audience takes time, but staying authentic and consistent will help you create a community of loyal followers who truly appreciate your work. Don’t be afraid to ask other questions!
