Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sierra Coleman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sierra , appreciate you joining us today. How’s you first get into your field – what was your first job in this field?
I started out at Beaumont Hospital as a dietary aide , while I was there I realized I had a heart to help those who could not help themselves. I then became a Certified Nursing Assistant which I practiced for 4 years, within that four years I desired to become more, I wanted to dig deeper into the nursing world. My coworkers would tell me “you will make an amazing nurse” , that motivated me to step out on faith and further my education to become a nurse. Looking back I am forever grateful for the guidance Beaumont gave me and the light they shined on the talents and confidence I never knew I had.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started in the nursing industry back in 2013 where I became a CNA, I became a LPN in 2017 , and became an RN in 2021 , I am currently two weeks from graduating with my RN,BSN. Working at Beaumont hospital as a CNA , is what started my nursing career. I was taught . I was guided and surrounded by so many leaders. Although I love nursing I felt I needed to be more impactful, unlike most people I don’t have a talent such as doing hair, nails, etc . Helping my patients and helping people is my talent and that comes naturally from within. Back in 2020 I decided to dive more into the community and start a business that would be life changing and rewarding, Keepin the Beat CPR is my way to properly educate people on life saving measures, my friend told me a story about a young lady that was unresponsive, and no one in the home knew CPR, that triggered something for me. This made me want to be the one to change the world and change how people see certain situations. I provide Adult, Children and infant CPR classes that will have my students knowledgeable in PROPER cpr and comfortable doing it. I teach first aid , choking techniques etc. This venture is essential in everyday life because it’s unpredictable and you never know what will come, but what they will walk away with from my class is the confidence in knowing they were properly taught and that they have what it takes to save someone life. My second business is my mobile lab Keepin the Flow Diagnostics, this business is for patients that aren’t able to get to doctor appointments etc , I can come to their home to draw routine labs , and to provide health education to help them stay up to date with their health.I’ve witnessed so many patients dying because they did not want to go to the doctors or they didn’t have reliable transportation that’s where I come in and make sure their health needs are met.
My passion , and my authenticity sets me apart for others, I don’t do this for money , or for publicity I do this because I want people to live longer, I want people to be knowledgeable when it comes to certain health related things , I want our community to feel present. I’m most proud of my determination and my resilience! I’ve come a long way with this industry but I know there is more in store for me and the people. I want my follower to see my page and know that I am here FOR THEM. It’s not just a gig to me, I want to work with them and build their strengths and work on their weaknesses.

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
Yes. I would choose nursing a million more times! Why? That’s because this profession is the gift that keeps giving, you can never have too much knowledge, it changes everyday. I like to learn new ways to help people and save people and just leave positive impacts on the patients or customers that gets to experience me!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe me working in the hospital, and word of mouth helped me build. Yes I’m still building that will never stop, but my friends and a lot of new faces helps keep my business afloat. Social media , is also a big tool that I use to reach ppl all over the world, who might see this and wants more insight!
