We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sierra Cobbs a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sierra, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
As a licensed professional cosmetologist for close to 20 years I have never worked in a professional setting salon setting. I’ve always worked at home. I had the idea that if I continue to work it within my comfort zone that I wouldn’t be able to reach the people that I’m supposed to be reaching as a part of my purpose.
What I do is I help others adjust their crowns(hair) by providing them a luxury service that reminds them of the royalty that lives within.
I knew that in order for me to do that and to reach the people that needed me I had to put myself in a place where I can be reached. I’ve always had the dream of being a salon owner but I’ve also felt like at times it was out of my reach.
On March 1, 2022 six Days after my 35th birthday I took a huge leap of faith and signed by first lease at a private salon suite here in the DFW area. The space I got wasn’t the absolute best and it needed some work so from that moment I like to say I was “Bob the builder” I actually went in by myself and did all of the painting and things that needed to be done. I had a few people saying that they wanted to help, I gave them the address and no one showed up. I was a bit disappointed but then I heard God say Sierra I gave this thing to you and at that moment I realize this was really truly my thing to do for myself even if it was by myself.
Seven days later my suite was completely painted and decorated and I serve to my first client on March 13th 2022 literally one day after I was done painting. I was truly amazed how God had worked through me to get such a large task done by myself.
Shortly after entering into the space I had to figure out how I was going to get the clientele to keep my bills paid being that I liberated myself from working at 9 to 5 on April 6, 2022. After looking into my clinic clientele I begin to market and do the extra work needed to get new clients and let’s just say I haven’t skipped a beat or haven’t lost anything since.
I knew that it was going to take an immense amount of faith, praying. sacrificing the things that I love, staying up late, distancing myself from distractions of people and the things around me, and grinding to make it happen. This is how I went from idea to actually launching.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I want people to know that I’m not just a hairstylist or a business owner but I want them to know that I created Lavish Beauté Hair Co. because I was born to make a change in the world through the beauty industry. Lavish Beauté isn’t a one size fits all type of salon/company but is specifically designed to reach people who are in need of uplifting, encouragement, positivity, and actually love & care for their hair and the way they show up in the world.
I work with people who suffer from tremendous hair loss such as alopecia by finding ways to combat hair loss. Which we all know is a fast growing issue in this time of life.
Also help my clients and people all over the world I’ve had a huge opportunity to create handcrafted products such as my hair growth oil Lavender Bliss, then there is Spa in a bottle which targeted pain and provides relief. Also I make custom turban & hat wigs a quick hair solution for a bad hair days or clients suffering with hair loss created to aid & assist people who are not feeling their best before encountering my company.
What sets Lavish Beauté apart from others is I actually take time to pray, & get customer feedback on what services & products to offer them in their time of need. It has been ground breaking!
I am most proud of my ability to stay afloat in a time like to so that I can be available to help the community of people around me who need & see value my products and services.
I want people to know that Lavish Beauté is #1 in the beauty industry & that we are here to assist you with your hair care needs. We actually care about what we produce and we value the feedback because it breeds room for opportunities and growth.

Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
Yes, I actually manufacture my own products. I started about a year ago manufacturing products I was dating a guy who came home one day and brought me a kit and in the kit was supplies where I can make my own spritzers for your house, lip balm‘s, and body lotions. So I immediately started to play around and get into mixing things adding my own fragrances and essential oils. Then I got the idea that I could start doing body butters and sugar scrubs which I did directly from my kitchen at home.
Next I started to have customers and clients come to me about their hair loss issues and wanted to know if there was something I knew of that could help, at that time I hadn’t created my hair growth oil so I would suggest them to some things at the beauty supply and then it hit me one day that I should make my own hair growth oil. So I started to do research on YouTube and after many trials and errors I finally came up with the formula and created my first hair oil which is the number one seller on my e-commerce store today.
The lessons that I have learned with manufacturing your own products is number one it’s definitely not an overnight process and it is not easy. I learned that manufacturing your own product is very important to keep the same consistency‘s and ingredients as the very first time that you actually created the product. Also it’s important to take note of the cost of everything that way when you get ready to sell your product you’re not losing out. From the time that it takes to create a valuable product and the time that it takes to infuse the product is very important as well it’s definitely not something you can make today and throw on the shelf tomorrow it takes time.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
On my journey I have many stories and many more to come but there is one particular story that I can share that illustrates my resilience. It’s actually one that’ll change throughout my journey because no matter what I’m faced with I am always able to recover from financial lacking for my business or whether it be having to take my last to make things happen.
What I’ve learned in moments like this is having faith is important when all else seems like it’s going to fail that’s when the biggest breakthrough comes..
I remember times barely having food to eat but also having orders to fill and I will make the conscious decision to fill my orders and because I had the faith and did what I needed to do for my customers something or someone always came through and made sure that I was able to eat and it was always more than enough.
I find resilience in myself because it’s really hard at times to have more bills and more business responsibilities than I have money but I still come out on top & have not lost anything along the way. Thank you for reading my story today. I pray it inspires you to do what you’re called to do & it now. God bless.
