We recently connected with Siena Rose and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Siena thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Dope designs elevate cultures. As a firm believer that design is so much more than just aesthetics, that it has the power to hit people and influence cultures, I am interested in creating designs that do just that. With the spirit of innovation and contemporary at the heart of my works, I strive to not just hop on the trends but also redefine them–continuously looking for a cooler, better, clearer, smarter, sexier way to represent the stories and information about our world as well as ourselves, be it the narrative behind a beauty brand, a food vendor, or a karaoke night at your local bar.

Siena, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hey yo! I am Siena Rose, a 23-year-old graphic designer & aspiring art director who believes that dope designs elevate cultures. I provide graphic design as well as photography services. Feel free to look through my portfolio website (https://datchindogurl.com/) to see my past works and gauge if you’re vibing with them. At the heart of my works lies the spirit of innovation and contemporary (perhaps, most apparent in my typography work: The Alphabet of Love Death + Robots); so, if that’s something you’re also passionate about, let’s connect! I’m always more than happy to collaborate with a fellow creative or realizing your vision to life! Let’s create trendy, engaging, and long-lasting designs together.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
In a way, I feel that as an artist, one continues the passing of batons from the previous generation of creatives. We’re continuously recreating, recyling, reusing, redefining the design trends, the course of art, and the art community itself. It’s a worthwhile movement, I’d say, one that is fueling the human story. For I believe that at the very core of the human story is its arts & cultures, and what better way to be a part of it than being a creative?

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I guess the biggest thing that non-creatives would struggle to understand about my journey as a creative is the seemingly imbalance/not as straightforwardly seen relationship between the effort that goes behind a creative work and the price tag that labeled it, especially one that falls on the artworld rather than design world. For the former requires a completely different way of value with the latter one which still can follow the pragmatical capitalistic economy of our society. Fundamentally, art strives when it is valued as a gift, one that is beyond the world’s riches and measurements. Unfortunately, we are not too keen with this way of appreciating art since it is ineffective and inefficient. We rather much prefer settling for something more straightforward: how many hours has one poured to their artwork, to their design; is it useful, is it pretty to look at, etc. But art is oftentimes not as direct, isn’t it? I guess it’s a sign that we still have some unlearning and learning to do in order to appreciate art fully, and by we I meant everyone, creatives and noncreatives; though, creatives shall be the first one to be facilitating and accommodating this discourse since we understand it more than noncreatives.
