We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sid Gandotra. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sid below.
Sid, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The Brand – Sit Down with Sid Podcast, all started with speaking to one of my best friends who I grew up with back home in India. We were like 2 inseparable brothers and after a decade of me moving and migrating to the United States, one day I happened to speak with him over the phone. I was so happy to hear from him after such a long time and we spoke about the good times we had growing up. He is married with 2 kids now and I asked him how things were going for him. We have always been very honest to each other and he opened up to me regarding the hardships he was facing coping up with the challenges of supporting a family being the only breadwinner of the household. Being my friend, I wanted to understand his situation and do what I could to help him morally, emotionally and financially. I offered to help him, but he declined my help and told me that our friendship was the best gift he had and he lost it and felt lonely when I moved to the United States.
It was a heartbreaking and an emotional moment for me, as it is very rare to find a good friend, a good person, and above all, a good human being. This whole experience moved me so much that I decided to start a platform, through which my brand could bring people closer to each other, connect them globally, one conversation at a time. At the end of the day, we all are living creatures who can and must learn from each other and work together towards one goal – Humanity!.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started my entrepreneurship journey back in 2009 when I started selling cars from a dealership me and my friend had at that time. After exploring that avenue for a few years, I dived into the world of digital marketing as a freelancer. I was fortunate for some referrals to work on, I got through some close friends. That was the beginning of my marketing career as things started to take off with the results I was providing to these clients. Eventually, since I was growing rapidly, I realized I should open up my own company and give opportunities to other talents by bringing them on board. And that is exactly what I did. Once again, I was blessed to be given opportunities by new potential clients and with the results we were giving, we continued to grow.
I had one principle in my business, which I always told my team on every Monday morning in our team meetings. And that was to never compromise with integrity, give your best and provide exceptional customer service. In my eyes, having stellar customer service is the key to business growth. Your clients trust you and it is your utmost fiduciary responsibility to be there for your clients. Eventually after a few years being in the digital marketing space, I ventured into the world of Real Estate and did well. And then simultaneously, I started the Sit Down With Sid Podcast which I am currently working on. We are available on all major podcast media channels and actively growing.
If you look above, you can see that Entrepreneurship is that fire that makes you want to explore as many lucrative opportunities as you can. Sometimes you fail, sometimes you succeed, but that is what entrepreneurship is in my opinion. Either you give in or you get up! Choice is yours….
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Listening and understanding their business needs in terms of targeted audience reach, expansion in local markets and core competitive branding to give them the upper hand in their industry/area of expertise. Most importantly – Stepping out of your comfort zone!
