Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shytina Drummond. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Shytina , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?
My mother is my hero for countless reasons, but at the heart of it all is her incredible ability to instill values that shaped the woman I am today. From a young age, she demonstrated an unwavering work ethic, showing me the importance of dedication and perseverance in everything we pursue. At age 14, at the start of the summer, my. mother bought me a bike and told me to go find a job, which I did. My first job was at a local grocery store. I rode my bike approximately 3 miles to get to work. She made sure that I only spent a small portion of the money I made and I was able to pay for some of my new school clothes for the upcoming school year. I cleaned houses with her and at age 16 we actually worked together at a fast food restaurant where she was the manager. I dare not call her mom on the job (lol). I definitely didn’t get any special treatment. Eventually she went into banking and retired from there. My mother taught me that hard work is not just about achieving goals, but about the pride and satisfaction that comes from giving your best effort. Compassion is another cornerstone of her character. My mother has always been there for others, showing me the significance of empathy and kindness. She taught me that caring for those around us not only enriches our lives but also creates a stronger, more connected community. Believing in myself is lesson she emphasized. My mother reminded me that self-confidence is crucial for personal growth and success. She would say, “If you make up your mind to do it, you’ll do it!” Whenever I faced challenges, she was and is my greatest supporter, always urging me to push through. Above all, my mother instilled in me a deep love for God and the importance of faith. She taught me to find strength in my beliefs and to seek guidance in moments of uncertainty. My mother, my hero influence has been profound.

Shytina , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I, Shytina “ShyLights” Drummond am a proud native of the Maryland Eastern Shore who has always danced to the beat of my own drums. My first glimpse at project management started many years ago with curating my own events. While doing so, I developed a strong interest in planning all things from a to z. While being a dedicated and passionate 9 to 5 career woman and mother, I still believed that I could pursue other interests. From the outside looking in, it always appeared that you had to be from New York, Atlanta, L.A., Miami or other go to major cities in order to have opportunities in the entertainment world. I however, didn’t let that stop me and it became my chance to challenge myself. I vowed to learn as much as I could, walk through doors I never thought I would walk through and connect with people I never thought that I ever would connect with, being that woman from a small town. My goal was to create lanes that other people could also navigate, while being an inspiration, being a light, hence my brand “ShyLights”. My background is rich with diverse experiences—from assisting with the launch of and serving as the Chief Administrator for a recording studio and event production company in Philadelphia, working with film makers and promoters to being the assistant production manager on several occasions for Thomas “Nephew Tommy” Miles. Grassroots start up projects and innovative and engaging missions are equally enjoyable for me. It’s rewarding to know that the work that I’ve done contributed to an idea becoming a successful reality.
My mission is to transform visions into unforgettable experiences without the hefty price tag.
What sets Shy-Lights apart is my commitment to building authentic relationships and my ability to see the big picture while meticulously attending to the finer details. I believe that every project is an opportunity to create something truly special, and I thrive on the challenge of turning stress into seamless success. My contagious enthusiasm not only inspires my clients but also fosters collaboration among everyone involved, ensuring that each project resonates with authenticity and brilliance.
The services I provide address several common challenges faced by clients. I help alleviate the stress of logistics and coordination, allowing my clients to focus on their vision while I manage the intricacies behind the scenes. My role is to ensure that every detail aligns with the client’s goals and aspirations.
In a world where every detail matters, I aim to be the steady hand that guides clients through the chaos, transforming their ideas into impactful realities. My experience working with artists, entertainers, and production teams to fashion shows at New York Fashion Week—has equipped me with a unique perspective and skill set that I bring to every project.
I want potential clients to know that by choosing Shytina “Shy-Lights” Drummond, they are not only securing a dedicated project manager but also a creative partner who is invested in their success. Together, we can embrace the journey of creation, where every project becomes a celebration of vision and artistry.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative, for me, lies in the journey of transformation and collaboration. I thrive under pressure, finding excitement in multitasking and improvisation. It’s like piecing together a puzzle—each element is unique, yet when combined, they create something beautiful.
I take great joy in working with the underdog, nurturing raw ideas from sketches to masterpieces. It’s inspiring to witness the evolution of a project, especially when others might give up on their dreams. I believe it’s possible to maintain balance in life while letting your passion lead the way.
As a project manager, I have the privilege of connecting with a diverse range of people—some are in my life for a reason, some for a season, and others become collaborators who share a vision. I cherish these connections, especially with those who have pure intentions. My goal is to bring a little light into the world through our collective creativity and efforts. In the end, it’s about creating something meaningful together and celebrating the beauty of the journey.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Being transparent, I have experienced hurt. Sometimes you don’t get the support from those that know you, but instead you’re supported and celebrated elsewhere. Unfortunately your determination, work ethic and passion doesn’t always sit well with people. Instead of sitting in discouragement, I keep going because these projects and new connections are a sense of peace for me and a joy for me and God uses me to be peace and joy for other people because ShyLights (LOL) It’s bigger than the work itself for me.
