We were lucky to catch up with Shyra Lowe recently and have shared our conversation below.
Shyra , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
In 2024, I found myself being placed in the painstaking, indescribable but most rewarding position of taking the greatest risk and leap of faith as it pertained to my personal life and calling, and my professional career as well. As far back as I can remember, well at least starting at the age of 14, I have always worked or had a professional career. So, if we are counting, up until recently, I have worked or had a professional career for more than 30 years, which is the greater majority of my life, and it hasn’t always been solely for financial or monetary purposes. What I have discovered is that God has used the various obstacles, challenges, mistakes, mishaps, missteps, learning curves, and failures in both my personal life and professional career to help mold, shape, develop, and build me into the loving mother, faithful leader, genuine worshipper, dedicated intercessor, submitted daughter, loyal sister, compassionate problem solver, grateful helper, thankful friend, humble ordained minister, consistent church elder, successful healthcare professional, dedicated entrepreneur, relentless business owner, passionate author, and above all, sacrificial servant to many, as my relationship with God through my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ would have me to be.
Taking risk, especially big ones, that not only impact our lives personally and individually, but risks that impact our families, ministries, businesses, churches, and communities as a whole can be pretty frazzling and mind boggling to say the least. Because of all the varying emotions that run through us like the very blood that runs through our veins while stepping out on faith to be the risk takers that we believe we have been called to be, is not by any means for the faint of heart. Even greater, when taking risks that God has called for our lives can become even more frazzling or stressful because with these types of risks, we don’t have complete control over the ends and outs nor the outcomes. These types of risks require a full and complete surrender or a yes without us fully knowing what will occur in the middle but having faith that we will receive the future and expected end as we desired from the beginning when we set out to embark upon the risk. Taking risk can often be defined by the risk taker as putting one foot in front of the other and praying to God that there is a step, some ground, some pavement, a road, or even a gravel path that will be in front of us to land our next step(s) on or even to catch or brace us when, not if, we fall. It truly is a step, leap, and sometimes a jump of faith all while we continue to hope, believe, and trust as we continue to travel along the risk takers path.
As life would have it, about a year ago, I found myself resigning from my successful career in healthcare in order to start Shyra Lowe Ministries, LLC, a for-profit business designed to help individuals, leaders, groups, families, ministries, and businesses become educated, empowered, and equipped in their unique calling. Shortly thereafter, I also started Shyra Lowe Ministries Foundations, Inc. , a nonprofit 501 c3 organization established to provide free educational services, consulting, and support to all those willing to pursue their God-given calling, passions, and purpose. With not all my ducks in a row, I had to quickly figure out what financial, physical, visionary, tangible, and even spiritual steps I needed to take next in order to see God’s plan for my life, and those I have been called to serve, come to fruition. It was the greatest risk that I had ever taken! However, because I knew that this was a BIG risk that God was calling me to take versus one of my own accord, I knew that no matter how scary, how winding, no matter how rough, and no matter how dark the road could possibly become, God was going to have my back every step of the way. Fast forward more than 12 months from the time of me resigning my successful professional career to do what I was ultimately called to do, God has blessed the rewards to be far greater than the risk in seeing people healed, transformed, delivered, prayed for, supported, educated, empowered, and equipped through the services that are offered through both Shyra Lowe Ministries, LLC and Shyra Lowe Ministries Foundation, Inc. As the result of me taking the risk and starting both of these companies and offering the unique and customized educational, consulting, coaching, and mentoring services, many people, families, individuals, new entrepreneurs, budding ministries, evolving businesses, and great risk takers are now walking in their destiny, purpose, and callings in order for them to become far greater than the fears that once gripped them when they initially set out to take the risk that was and yet still is being required of them as from the beginning.
As I progress in life and continue to evolve personally as a risk taker myself, I am still being required on a daily basis to navigate through each dimension of being the entrepreneur, business owner, servant leader, support system and many other things that I have been called to be. I am learning during this process that it is vitally important to have the right support system(s) in place; have strong faith that not only moves mountains but causes you to stand in the midst of adversity and not faint; to release what you don’t know, understand, or have control over; to understand and balance that everything is not about money even though you need finances to do certain things; to go with the flow even when the flow is slow; to forgive quickly and to pray deeply; to not grow weary in doing well because eventually you will reap if you don’t faint; to do it afraid, alone, lonely and even while crying but keep on moving; to trust the process and the plan; to embrace the fact that there is possibilities, purpose, and power in the pain and problems that we experience while building; and to trust that God knows what He is doing when a door is shut and a season or path comes to an end. Taking risk(s) involves so many things but one thing it does not include is quitting…or else it was never a real risk from the beginning!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
With more than twenty successful years of professional experience at the leadership level in the healthcare industry, of which more than ten of those years I was blessed to hold a leadership role in behavioral health, mental health, hospital management, and substance abuse organizations, combined with my passion for loving and serving people in ministry, my professional experience coupled with my life’s calling has humbly enabled me to make a wonderful and healing impact on all generations, nationalities, professional and personal individuals, and cultural environments alike. I am blessed to be recognized as a successful author of a 40-day, guided hope & healing journal called Wounded Warriors STILL Win in which I am extremely proud of the powerful, life-changing, and transformative affects that this healing journal has reportedly had on many lives. I am a graduate of the prestigious Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science/Pre-law, and I also hold a degree in Christian Leadership and Biblical Studies from the Way Leadership University in Southern California. I am an ordained minister, a recognized prophetic vessel, and a trained Lay Counselor that uses my God-given abilities to help those, in and outside of the church community, successfully overcome their traumas, tragedies, and triggers in order to fulfill their impactful life’s work. I am lovingly known by many as a prophetic healing and deliverance coach, and those who have the pleasure of experiencing my writings, teachings, social media content, and speaking endeavors, will undoubtedly not remain the same.
In addition to being a public speaker, a conference & talk show host, an educational course instructor, a successful author, a thriving entrepreneur, a loving minister, and a wildly loving mother to one amazing, kind, super intelligent, beautiful, and well accomplished daughter, I am the Founder and CEO of Shyra Lowe Ministries, LLC, a for-profit business that provides life-coaching, entrepreneur coaching, mentoring, and consulting services to budding individuals, executives, professionals, business owners, ministry leaders, corporate leaders, family leaders, and various types of entrepreneurs in the areas of vision casting, business creation, business development, contract negotiations, revenue growth, financial management, team building, client expansion, client retention, problem solving/resolution, business strategy, purpose identification…and much, much more! This passion and vision was birthed out of my own personal heartbreaks in terms of not being able to easily access the support, mentorship, and leadership that I needed in order to become all that God has called me to be for myself and lovingly to others. I became passionate about helping others in the areas that I once needed assistance, help, mentorship, leadership, and support in.
The services that are offered through both of my businesses are unique because they are a one-stop-shop, and are offered in an all-inclusive, virtual resource, and service hub for all things business, entrepreneurship, and ministry all rolled up into one for those who are called to one, multiple, or ALL of these areas. Shyra Lowe Ministries, LLC is known and branded for providing customized educational, coaching, mentoring, and consulting services that address the complete vision, calling, purpose, destiny, services, and resource needs of the whole person, entrepreneur, business, community, or organization in one easily accessible and virtual space. As a, educator, coach, mentor, and consultant, I am known as the “unconventional lady” that goes above and beyond to help others uniquely tap into their passion and to identify their life’s calling, while also helping my clients use their internal and external resources to become all that they have been called to be to themselves and for others. I assist my clients in identifying any areas of weakness that have served as a barrier or a hinderance to their ability to personally and professionally grow and become successful, and provide them with tailored tools and customized strategies to help them personally and professionally develop and grow at the levels of success they envision for themselves and those they are called to serve. The services offered through both Shyra Lowe Ministries, LLC and Shyra Lowe Ministries Foundation, Inc. are also unique because they are made physically and financially accessible to all regardless of income, location, background, and vision/business size or type. Being a proud founder and owner of a non-profit, 501c3 entity is truly a part of my life’s work and testimony, whereby I work with individuals, groups, leaders, entrepreneurs, ministries, business owners, etc. who may be going through a life transition or experiencing a temporary hardship to provide services for free based on service type and the determined need as financial resources avail themselves at the time. The life-changing results and transformative impacts seen as a result of the creation of my non-profit, 501 c 3 organization makes me even more proud and eager to further create resources to help my clients to become more successful in all they have been called to do.
In 2025 and beyond, I have begun the process of expanding my availability in more creative ways and have opened my calendar to travel for various in-person speaking engagements, and I am also in the process of expanding the training services that I offer under both my for-profit and nonprofit businesses by traveling physically throughout the United States and internationally in order to collaborate with individuals, businesses, ministries, schools, corporate spaces, and various other organizations in order to further meet the needs of those who identify with and need the services that my businesses offers. I have vowed to use every gift, talent, resource, service, and ability available to me in order to assist others tap into and become all that God has successfully called them to be.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the greatest times of pivoting in my life was also the time I took the greatest risk in my life. This major time of pivoting in my life was when I stepped out in faith and started both my for-profit and nonprofit businesses as a self-funded entrepreneur in the same season. Taking a risk and becoming an entrepreneur without a major investor or major capital gains backing you is a whole different ball game. I took the leap of faith and pivoted from having a more than twenty-year, successful professional career in healthcare to one day following the vision that God gave me and becoming my own personal financier and bank by using my personal funds and resources that were available to me at the time. I believed in the vision that God gave me, but most importantly, I believed in the better life, purpose, destiny, and activation of calling that God would use me to uniquely create for others. Things haven’t always been easy having to have faith for both me and my clients. However, at the end of the day, I can honestly say that no matter how daunting the challenges have been to pivot from having a daily known routine and many years of financial success and stability, to starting all over from scratch, the reward of seeing individuals, businesses, ministries, families, entrepreneurs, communities, etc. undoubtably changed because of the unique, customized, tailored, and proven coaching, mentoring, educational, and financial strategies for success that I have been able to provide to my clients has been more than worth the temporary struggle(s). Pivoting at any stage or age of life requires resilience, fortitude, agility, and unwavering faith in order to stay the course; and what I have learned through this amazing and dynamic process is that pivoting is not just a one-time occurrence for the business owner or the entrepreneur. Pivoting is a mind set and a constant way of life that must be embraced wholeheartedly so that the lessons are not just learned but the lessons remain resolute within you even though everything and everyone around you may not remain the same.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Some of the key factors that have and continue to help me establish a firm reputation with my clients within and outside my market is an immense level of hard work, consistency, dedication, integrity, and genuine care for my clients beyond what they have normally been accustomed to. Going above and beyond what my clients expect, and the amount of dedicated time and resources that I pour into my clients, along with authenticity and my enduring passion to serve them has built my reputation along the way. Me intentionally going above and beyond for my clients in order to assure they receive a thousand percent return on their investment but also to make sure that they come through the development, coaching, mentoring, educational, and consulting process more equipped, stronger, more resilient, and more successfully skilled in meeting the needs of their clients, audience, and others than they ever expected has also blessed me to build a good name and reputation in the market. The level of personal touch, personal commitment, and personal investment into my clients has gone a long way. I am also loving known by all of my clients as “the lady that gets down and dirty, and “gets in our business in a good way”. This strategy and personal approach to coaching, mentoring, educating, and consulting has gone a long way for me because my clients not only get more bang for their buck but also become more productive and better human beings as they see me live out a successful business model and client approach in real time. Personal and professional development, and great success in all areas is what I aim for with all my clients. Our success is nothing without the personal and character development to maintain it.
