We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shyra Divine. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shyra below.
Alright, Shyra thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I had to make a choice to take a risk with myself and my career despite the outside influence from others. I live in a homeless program and one of their requirements is to work a job to provide savings for an apartment or other needs before leaving. I knew that working a 9-5 wasn’t for me because it made my soul feel confined, I never lasted more than 6 months at any job. Back in 2022 I had made my first instagram reel that went viral and I had never really taken content creation seriously until I became homeless and discovered that my purpose was to help uplift, heal, and inspire others through the use of sharing my lived experiences and wisdom I have accumulated. So, in October of 2023 I quit my job and started pursuing content creation full time while deciding to go to college to enhance my skills in video production and photography. The staff in this program were concerned about how i was going to make a living or provide for myself after i leave the program and I had the responsibility of more bills. There were also people telling me to be more realistic or continue to work a job until my career kicks off but i knew exactly what I was called to do. I had to take a huge leap of faith and bet on myself against all odds. Despite my current circumstances, I decided to go after what truly made me fulfilled and happy not worrying about how money was going to come in. I took it upon myself to learn from others that had the level of success that I wanted and applied their abundance mindset and habits into my life. I put in the work on myself to heal from generational curses and limiting beliefs and patterns I have held on to since childhood, and I made sure to give my all into every single video I made. It opened up so many doors of opportunities for me to meet people that have changed my life and build a community of people that support each other. I have also monetized my podcast account and have found many ways to generate passive income and have actually made MORE money than I have made working a 9-5. I have grown and evolved so much on my journey and that was only possible by deciding that I can have any life that i want to create for myself and be willing to do whatever it takes to get there.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I realized that I was passionate about content creation after I quit my job and started pursuing ways to make money without all of the restrictions that a job entailed. I didn’t like the fact that I was spending all of my time somewhere where I wasn’t happy and was controlling how much I got paid, when I could take breaks, and if I could take a vacation or not. I went on the search for something different and sought out people who were successful. I started with books such as “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne, “The 5am club” by Robin Sharma, and listened to people who understood the fundamental laws of the universe, such as the law of attraction, and started applying those techniques in my life. It gave me the hope and the confidence to quit my job and start working for myself and building the life that I wanted to live. While on the journey towards self discovery I realized that I came here to be a source of light for others. I have been through so many tough situations and was able to see things from a clearer perspective, so I used that insight and truth to guide others toward their own self discovery. I started my podcast, Planet Divinity, back in August of 2023 as well as building various other social media platforms speaking my truth and helping others in the process. My overall mission is to help uplift humanity and to be of service to human beings as much as I can. I understand that by doing my own healing work and visualizing the world in a peaceful state leads others to do the same. I hope to help transform as many people as I can so that they can understand their true nature and begin to lead a life full of love, abundance, and happiness. I am living testimony that regardless of current circumstances, it is possible to create the life of your dreams. I want people to understand that my platforms have the foundation of love and that I will always show up and be my most authentic self in everything I do, as well as put my all into everything I do.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I believe there needs to be more support for people choosing to take a non-traditional route and follow their passions. Even in my own journey I have encountered lack of support from others and was met with a critical eye, telling me to be “realistic” and “logical”, or to “do something that will actually make you money.” and in all honesty, whenever I followed my heart I made way more money, opportunities, and connections than I would have working a 9-5. It’s not even about the financial aspect but more about being happy. People now are just doing what they can do to survive and get by, spending each day unhappy and unfulfilled, chasing after material possessions that bring fleeting happiness. Following my heart and getting connected with my creator was the best decision I have ever made and there’s nothing logical about that. There’s so many of these people who believe in The Most High but yet are the same ones telling artists and creatives to work a dead end job that’s meaningless. and stifle their creativity. The creator of all things created us so that we can be creative but we were built on a system that leads people away from the truth. So what society can do is start going within themselves and start asking questions like: What am I passionate about? Is the life that I am currently living true to me? What brings me joy and how can I create more of it in my life? Your heart will never lead you astray, it is your internal compass.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
There is no such thing as someone who is non-creative. We are creations ourselves, we have the spark of the divine within us, everything that you see around you now was created by god ( not speaking from a religious standpoint) through man. The issue is that we were taught from a young age that being creative isn’t going to pay bills or put food on the table, that we have to go out and work hard at a job, get a college degree, and then maybe pursue a creative passion as a hobby. The truth is, we all have an inner calling inside each of us and choosing to ignore that calling lands you at a desk job or working endless hours at a restaurants watching time pass by, living paycheck to paycheck, and seeing the world through the eyes of scarcity and limitation that was placed on you by society. Lack of support for people on their creative journey really is just a projection of fear, all they are is just suppressed creatives. If you feel like you aren’t creative I recommend getting this book called “Artist’s Way” it’s a book for creative recovery. Start asking yourself if the life that you are living really authentic to you or is it the life someone else told you that you should live? Anything that you are passionate about can bring you income.
