Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shyanne . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Shyanne , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
I came up with the name of my company because my last name is pronounced cheese-bro ,and I am married, and do lettering so I combined it all to call myself “mrscheeseletters” ! :)
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am Shyanne of Mrscheeseletters, and I am so excited to be a part of this! A little about how I got started, In December of 2019, I came across a random calligraphy video and thought, “That’s pretty; I want to learn how to do that!” After many courses, hours of research, plenty of mistakes and successes too, Mrscheeseletters was born. Turning ordinary phrases into beautiful pieces of art has become a surprise passion of mine!
Once I mastered the skill of calligraphy, I went two feet in and started doing custom wedding and other event signage! I’ve had so much fun involving clients in the design process and helping their “Pinterest goals” come to life!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I can think of many times I’ve had to pivot in business and in my personal life. it seems life always throws you curve balls but it’s how you attempt to make those curve balls into homeruns is what matters! One specific pivot I had to make was during the pandemic. A lot of people were postponing their weddings or making their wedding a smaller, more intimate time. This was the perfect time to pivot from hand lettering on general household items, to hand lettering custom signage for weddings, showers, and more intimate spaces. This is when I really fell in love with working in the wedding space.
Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
All my work is “hand manufactured” and the vast majority is custom tailored to each client. I did not know how to do calligraphy or hand lettering at all when I began. When I took my first online class, I was hooked! The passion and my client base grew from there. I do enjoy collaborating with other people to create a unique experience for each of my clients.
