We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shveata Mishra. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shveata below.
Alright, Shveata thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The story of how I came up with this business idea is deeply personal, and it all began with a constant question I had in my mind: how could I bring together the things I love in a way that not only resonates with me but also has a meaningful impact on others? As a trained musician with a PhD in psychology of music and a deep connection to Indian classical vocal traditions, I’ve always believed in the healing power of music. At the same time, I’ve been fascinated by how fashion can influence self-expression and mental wellness I was born and raised in Lucknow, India, a city renowned for its rich cultural heritage, music, arts, and, of course, the timeless art of Chikankari. Growing up in such an environment, I’ve always been deeply connected to these artistic traditions. From a young age, I was immersed in the intricate world of Indian classical music and the delicate, handcrafted embroidery that Lucknow is famous for. This cultural backdrop shaped my perspective on life, and I’ve always believed that music, fashion, and mental well-being are inherently interconnected.
My journey took a more profound turn when I pursued my PhD in Music Psychology. It was through this deep dive into human emotion and behavior that I truly understood the powerful role music can play in healing. Music has the ability to help individuals cope with stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, overthinking, and so much more. It became clear to me that everything around us, from the spaces we inhabit to the clothes we wear, carries a frequency—and this frequency impacts our emotional and mental state more than we realize.
In today’s fast-paced world, we often ignore this connection. We live in a society where popping a pill has become the quick fix for everything—whether it’s for headaches, insomnia, or even something as minor as acidity. We’ve become so accustomed to treating the symptoms rather than addressing the root cause. We don’t give ourselves the time or space to heal holistically. But what if we could tune into the frequencies around us—whether through the music we listen to, the clothes we wear, or simply by being mindful of our surroundings? What if we could cultivate an environment that nurtures our mental wellness instead of just numbing it?
That’s when the idea for my business took shape. I realized that the world needed a space where music, fashion, and mental wellness could converge, where people could experience healing through a more holistic approach. It’s not just about providing something to wear or listen to—it’s about creating a space where individuals can reset their energies, feel more grounded, and find balance in a world that often pulls us in every direction.
This vision was also deeply influenced by important pillars in my life: my parents, whose values of discipline and creative freedom inspired my sense of integrity and originality, and my husband, who has been a grounding force of support and belief in my vision. Their presence in my journey has given me both the courage and the clarity to pursue this dream and build something deeply meaningful.
What excites me most is the potential to offer a solution to something that’s often overlooked: the need for emotional and mental balance. This business represents more than just an entrepreneurial venture for me. It’s a mission to reconnect people with themselves, using music and fashion as tools for healing and self-expression. It’s about creating a sanctuary where people can nurture their mental well-being, heal their emotional wounds, and embrace a sense of inner peace.
Shveata , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Dr. Shveata Mishra—a Music Psychologist, Therapist, and Indian Classical Vocalist with a PhD in the Psychology of Music. My work bridges the gap between emotional well-being, music, and mindful fashion through a multi-dimensional brand that offers healing experiences rooted in authenticity and heritage.
Raised in Lucknow, India—a city celebrated for its classical arts and soulful embroidery—I grew up immersed in cultural richness. I later became a graded artist with All India Radio and earned a PhD focused on how music influences human behavior, personality and mental health.
Through my academic and personal journey, I realized the profound emotional healing music can offer—and how much society often overlooks the importance of holistic self-care. That realization sparked the creation of Shveata Mishra SM, a brand that blends music therapy, mindful fashion, and emotional wellness. Our offerings are designed to help people reconnect with themselves and restore inner harmony.
At Shveata Mishra SM, we provide more than just fashion. Our curated products—from healing music playlists to energy-aligned, hand-embroidered clothing—are thoughtfully created to promote emotional clarity and self-expression. Each offering is grounded in the belief that both sound and style have the power to heal and elevate.
What sets us apart is our deep-rooted commitment to holistic transformation. This isn’t about surface-level solutions. It’s about helping individuals access deeper emotional healing through an integrated approach that unites ancient wisdom, modern psychology, and authentic self-expression.

What I’m most proud of is the global recognition our work has received—whether through publications, my role as a guest lecturer at Banasthali Vidyapith and the University of Mauritius, or invitations to speak on international platforms about the power of music and emotional healing.
At its core, Shveata Mishra SM is not a brand. It’s a movement—for those who are ready to heal, elevate, and live with greater presence and purpose.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What helped me build my reputation within my market was authenticity, consistency, and a deep-rooted passion for what I do.
I’ve never approached my work as just a profession—it’s always been a purpose. With a PhD in the psychology of music and years of experience as a classical vocalist, therapist, and researcher, my work has always centered around real, meaningful transformation for people. That sincerity comes through in everything I offer—whether it’s a healing music session, a mindful fashion piece, or a mental wellness workshop.
I also believe my reputation grew because I never confined myself to one box. I took my knowledge across disciplines—merging music, psychology, fashion, and mindfulness in a way that’s still rare. People recognize that I bring not just expertise, but heart. I don’t follow trends—I create thoughtful, intentional experiences that truly serve people’s emotional needs.
Another big reason is trust. Over the years, I’ve built a portfolio of impactful work—be it through international lectures, published books, research contributions, or the feedback from people whose lives were touched by my work. That trust, once earned, travels faster than any marketing ever could.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One story that truly illustrates my resilience comes from the time I was pursuing my PhD in Music Psychology.
It was a phase where life tested me on every level—personally, emotionally, and professionally. While deeply engrossed in my research, I was also juggling multiple responsibilities: teaching, performing, writing papers, conducting therapy sessions, and managing personal challenges that often felt overwhelming. There were days when the workload felt endless, when the emotional toll of working so closely with people’s pain through therapy sessions weighed heavily on me. Financial constraints, health setbacks, and moments of deep self-doubt made the journey even tougher.
But what kept me going was a deep inner belief in the purpose behind my work. Every time I felt like giving up, I reminded myself why I started: to help people heal, to bridge the gap between art and wellness, to create something meaningful out of my passion.
I still remember countless nights sitting alone with research papers spread around me, battling fatigue, and still pushing myself to give my best. Every small milestone—publishing a paper, completing a chapter, getting a positive response from someone helped by my music—felt like a personal victory.
Eventually, not only did I complete my PhD with distinction, but I also authored books, taught internationally, and built a platform that integrates music, mental health, and holistic wellness. That phase taught me that resilience isn’t about never falling—it’s about standing back up with even more determination every single time you do.
Today, whenever new challenges arise in business or life, I look back at that chapter and know that if I could get through that, I can get through anything.
