Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shunvon Cole. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Shunvon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The story behind my mission is the drive and will to become one of the best producers with a catalog of records. As a music producer, the response is not always a positive one because our work is constantly being judge based off quality, credibility, and sacrifice. I want to use that narrative as motivation because a “NO” today can be a blessing in disguise for a “YEAH” tomorrow. The thrill of working through disappointments and finally getting a breakthrough no matter how big or small is what drives me.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
A Philadelphia, Mississippi native, Cole Makin’ Moves is a producer, engineer, and videographer. Self-taught due to finances, he quickly got a small buzz and started selling beats. After learning video production as well, Cole Makin’ Moves started working with artist more closely and have albums available with multiple artists across the web. Cole Makin’ Moves has now molded himself to become a hands on talent and one stop shop with handling music production, engineering, and video production so clients won’t have to go out and find one. I am most proud of boosting our own status and collecting millions of streams with hard work and never quitting. The team and I have accomplished charting on iTunes charts and racking up stream/views on multiple platforms.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a producer is the reviews from the general public. I take the positive and negative comments and use them to see what areas I can improve in. I love seeing people react to anything I have produced or engineered because seeing them happy and loving anything I am apart of reminds me that I am doing something right.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I had to unlearn is that there are no rules to producing. You can achieve the same amount of success or quality of sound using your own judgment as long as the end result sounds good. At the end of the day, the goal is to appease the consumer or listener.
