We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shreyas Sonwane a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Shreyas, thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
I have spent 5 years studying and working in the US. In these past 5 years, I have learned and grown a lot, both personally and professionally. After finishing my studies, I started to expand my network and market my skills and work. During this process, I realized that my clients were really happy with my creative services and really appreciated my skills. This made me believe in myself, more than ever. Through my network, I got in touch with some really amazing mentors, who showed me the direction I should be working towards and guided me on how I can grow my work into a full-fledged business. Over time, I realized that I needed to expand my clientele and harness my skills to their full potential. I always wanted to provide a wider variety of creative services rather than restrict myself to just a few areas. The next step for my professional growth was clear as a crystal to me, to start a company of my own and establish my name in the market. This way I can get a better outreach and showcase my skills on a bigger platform.
Shreyas, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a 3D Generalist, based in Boston. During my internship at a marketing agency, I realized that I am not meant to be just an employee for a company. I know it sounds cliche, but I always wanted to be my own boss. I wanted to directly interact with my clients so that I can form a stronger relationship with them and make them feel closer to the project that I am working on for them. This gives me the freedom to work in my own way. I provide a variety of services in the creative and artistic fields. I mainly focus on 3D Rendering, Video Editing, Motion Graphics, Filter design, and animating 2D stickers. From the feedback, that I have received from my clients, I think my customer service is what really sets me apart. Instead of forcing my ideas on them or doing what I am most comfortable with, I always put my clients’ demands a top priority and work with them to deliver results closest to what they desire. Timeline is another important thing for me, I always strive to deliver my work on time while ensuring the quality of my work. I provide my input when required if I feel like that would enhance my work and would make the clients happy too. I think this is what helps me to build a good rapport in the market.
My work is related to all the major platforms and social media like TikTok, Instagram, and Youtube. I have recently started focussing on creating videos on my company’s Youtube channel and I plan on expanding it to work with other clients as well. I am an avid gamer myself and love to play games like Valorant and DOTA 2. Hence, on Youtube, I would love to work with Gaming Streamers on video editing projects. I would also like to collaborate with Vloggers to work on more video editing and motion graphics projects.
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
For me, NFT is a really interesting concept and a field that I am exploring right now. I think it is a great platform for artists, both budding and established, to monetize their work in a hassle-free way. It helps to put everyone on an equal standing, where everyone gets an equal opportunity. I think it gives artists like us global visibility, which is really important in the current scenario. Coming from a country like India, I understand the hardships that artists around the world face just because it is not seen as a mainstream job or something that can be lucrative. With NFTs in the scene, the playing field is leveled and anyone from any part of the world can use their skills. I think in the coming time, this is going to encourage more people to take risks and follow their passions instead of giving in to the societal norms of mainstream jobs.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I always believe in creating long-lasting relations with my clients. As I mentioned earlier, I love getting feedback from my clients. I love to see and know how my work is impacting their business. For this, I love to meet my clients or visit their offices to see my work in action. My one such client was based in Atlanta Midtown named Windsor Apartments. I worked on 3D renderings for their renovation project, which I saw becoming a reality and being appreciated by people. I visited the building and met with my clients to see how satisfied they were with my work. As a result of this, I was approached by them for another similar project which I recently finished. I think being amiable with clients, building a good relationship, and word of mouth of satisfied customers is what have helped me to acquire loyal clients and get new ones as well. I am really thankful for those who have helped me in the entire process and kept me motivated to keep doing my work the way I love it.
