We recently connected with Showmusik and have shared our conversation below.
Showmusik, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had started sooner?
Hey, thank you so much for having me! Short answer: no. Before I started my Showmusik journey in 2018, my life was already rich with diverse experiences in the music and dance world. For many years, I immersed myself in Munich’s DJ scene, experimented with house music production, and contributed significantly to an independent music label, by enhancing their social media presence and supporting their roster of DJs & artists. Even more importantly, my involvement with hip hop dance and its championships since childhood has been a cornerstone of my creative expression. Following this passion, I pursued formal education in music production, earning my bachelor’s degree.
Each of these endeavors was important in shaping the artist and entrepreneur I am today, laying the groundwork for Showmusik. Had I rushed into founding my company without all of these experiences, the outcome might have been completely different. I firmly believe that our paths unfold at the perfect timing. When one door closes, it’s not just another one that opens but three, offering even more promising opportunities. Moreover, I strongly believe that age is just a number in the realm of artistry. Success, recognition, and the realization of personal dreams are not tethered to any age. What matters is recognizing your unique strengths, harnessing them effectively, and navigating your artistic journey with authenticity.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Oriano Medde, but in the world of music and dance, I’m better known as Showmusik. Based in Munich, Germany, I am a music editor, remixer, and producer specializing in creating custom music solutions for dancers, choreographers, artists and brands across the globe.
I’ve been part of the world of hip-hop dance competitions since the age of 8. By the time I was 14, I had begun editing music for my dance crews, crafting unique sounds that complemented our routines. This early experience not only deepened my love for music but also set the foundation for my future career, seamlessly blending my skills in dance and music production.
In 2018, I founded Showmusik, combining my passions for music and dance. My early focus was on crafting specialized mixes for dance competitions.
I ventured into social media to share my remixes on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. My music quickly found a global audience, with millions of dancers using my sounds to elevate their content. This exposure not only broadened my reach but also helped me amass a combined following of overall a million through my accounts, paving the way for significant opportunities within the industry.
One of the memorable moments in my career was having the opportunity to produce an official remix for the Pussycat Dolls, released through Universal Music. This project was a significant step in my journey as a music producer. I’ve also been fortunate to work with well-known brands like Amazon Prime Video, UEFA, Adidas, and Sony Music, which has allowed me to reach a wide range of audiences and explore new creative avenues. Additionally, my remixes for J-pop star CHANMINA’s world tour contributed to enriching her performance. Most recently, it was an honor to have Nelly Furtado perform my remix of ‘Say It Right’ at the JUNO Awards 2024. It’s incredible to see how my music reaches global audiences, for which I’m beyond grateful.
Choreographers, dancers, and artists enjoy working with me because we speak the same language—dance. This shared understanding allows me to effectively support their artistic ideas. With years of experience in both music and dance, I strive to help bring their dreams to life.
Looking ahead, I’m thrilled to be working on my first digital product that will transform the dance scene. I can’t wait to share more details with you. Be sure to follow my Instagram for the latest updates as soon as it’s released!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
It’s definitely the joy and satisfaction that comes from seeing people engage with my music—whether they’re halfway across the world through social media or right in front of me on stage. The creative process in my studio is intense and solitary, often involving long hours, days, or even weeks of dedicated effort to perfect a mix. During this time, I have a vision for how the choreography might look, but ultimately, it’s just a hypothesis until it’s realized by a choreographer, dancer or artist.
I don’t create these mixes in a vacuum; they’re meant to be interpreted, to inspire, and to be a part of a larger artistic expression. When dancers use my tracks, they’re not just performing routines; they’re bringing my visions to life in ways I couldn’t have predicted. Each video tag on social media is a testament to this shared creative synergy. Even though it’s impossible to watch every video I’m tagged in, every snippet I catch resonates deeply, reinforcing the impact of my work.
Furthermore, witnessing live performances set to my mixes is incomparable. There’s a tangible energy exchange between the dancers and the audience, fueled by the music I’ve created. It’s a vivid reminder of why I do what I do. This interaction not only validates my artistic choices but also completes the creative circle in the most fulfilling way possible. For me, there’s no greater reward than knowing my music not only enhances performances but also brings joy and energy to audiences worldwide.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The idea of Showmusik has always been to elevate the musical experience on stage, especially in the context of dance performances. It’s so common for dance coaches to edit the music themselves, which sometimes can’t do justice to the immense effort and passion the team pour into their performances. These dancers, alongside their coaches, invest months of practice, significant funds for attire and travel, not to mention the emotional and physical toll it takes to prepare for these events. Yet, all their hard work can be undermined if the music—the very foundation of their performance—is poorly edited.
My goal is to ensure that doesn’t happen. Good music editing and remixing can inspire choreographers to develop more innovative and impactful routines. It can energize dancers, enhancing their performance and enjoyment, which in turn captivates the audience and leaves a memorable impression on the judges. Basically, by improving the quality of music mixes on stages worldwide, I aim to respect and honor the dedication of dancers and choreographers by providing them with the auditory tools they need to succeed.
I have set specific goals to expand the scope and impact of my work. These include securing more official remixes and releases, increasing collaborations with major artists for their live performances, and continually producing engaging music and dance content on my social media profiles. I’m also excited about the upcoming launch of my first digital product, designed to deliver significant value to the dance community worldwide. At the end of the day, I just want to spread positivity around the globe. I’m beyond grateful to do what I love every day and to have such a supportive community that inspires me to keep pushing boundaries and sharing joy.
