Alright, ShotKaller Kev thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The Most meaningful project of my Artist career has to be my first Full Body Of work Released in 2018 titled “Fearless, In A jungle I call My City”. Prior to releasing this project I’ve been writing and recording music since 2009. Every word and lyric of this project, even the cover art were all strategically thought out to really give the fans a Introspective look into who Shotkaller Kev is and all I’ve experienced up to that point. While Creating the Fearless project I was going through one of the most challenging transitional times of my life so it will always be one I Remember.
ShotKaller Kev, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I go By Shotkaller Kev, and I am a Songwriter and artist from Queens, New York. Music has always been a big part of my life. I Don’t think there has been a day in my life I haven’t listened to music. I was maybe about 6/7 years old at the time, my sister, my childhood best friend, and myself would sit in the staircase just saying whatever came to our minds. Just innocent kids expressing ourselves having fun. It’s been twenty years plus literally! That experience is what sets me apart from other artist. The love and passion and the joy the music brings to me, I put it into my own music so the fans can feel it as well. Potential Fans should know that I Am someone whose very versatile musically from Singing to rapping. I love every part of music. I am someone who views music as a therapy for the soul, because sometimes it’s hard to find the right words to describe a feeling but you can bet there’s always a song for it.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Legacy. Family. All of us are living on borrowed time so if your not doing what feeds your soul, Your doing yourself a disservice in the short time that you do have here on this earth. I want to be remember forever and I plan on leaving my mark.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The Most rewarding aspect of being an artist is having someone else acknowledge and appreciate your Art. As Artist we spend a lot of time behind the scenes creating visions and playing a lot of different roles to bring those visions to life. So when someone enjoys the finished product it’s like we know that time was not wasted.
