We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shorty Roc. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shorty below.
Alright, Shorty thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Building The Khaliseum has been the most meaningful project I’ve worked on because it combines my passions for rap and film making into one platform. As a film maker, I understand the importance of having a platform to showcase your work and connect with your audience. The Khaliseum not only allows me to share my own films, but it also gives other film makers a chance to share their work and engage with their fans. In today’s world, there are so many streaming options available, but The Khaliseum stands out because it’s a social network as well. It allows for a level of interaction and community that other streaming services don’t offer. I’m excited to be a part of something that has the potential to change the way we consume and create film. The Khaliseum is a game-changer, and I’m proud to have been a part of its development.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As a professional hip hop artist, I have the ability to use my platform and influence to spread important messages and bring attention to important issues. Through my music and performances, I knowingly inspire and empower people, particularly those in marginalized communities, to speak out and take action on issues that matter to them.
As a film maker, I have the ability to tell stories that can educate, inspire, and bring about social change. Through my original films, I proactively shed light on important issues and give a voice to those who may not have one. The creation of The Khaliseum, the world’s first movie streaming app, allows for the distribution of these important films and stories to a wider audience, further increasing their impact and potential for social change. The availability of diverse and thought-provoking content on The Khaliseum can also help to promote understanding and empathy among viewers, leading to a more united and harmonious society.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
There are several things that society can do to support artists and creatives and foster a thriving creative ecosystem:
Provide funding: Governments and other organizations can provide funding for artists and creatives through grants, residencies, and other programs. This financial support can help artists and creatives to focus on their work and allow them to take risks and experiment with new ideas.
Create opportunities for exposure: Gallery shows, festivals, and other events can provide artists and creatives with opportunities to showcase their work and reach new audiences.
Promote education and professional development: Providing training and education opportunities can help artists and creatives to develop new skills and advance their careers.
Protect intellectual property: It is important to have strong intellectual property laws in place to protect the rights of artists and creatives and ensure that they are fairly compensated for their work.
Encourage a culture of appreciation: Society can help to create a culture in which art and creativity are valued and supported by actively seeking out and supporting artists and creatives and their work.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative can vary from person to person. As for me having the opportunity to express myself and share my ideas and emotions with others through my music and films. I also enjoy seeing the impact of my work on others, whether it be through eliciting an emotional response, inspiring others to think differently, or creating social change. Another aspect I enjoy about being a creative is having the freedom and autonomy to create work that is meaningful and authentic to myself. tly challenged and pushed to develop new skills and ways of thinking.
