Hi ShonMarra, thanks for joining us today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?

Being a business owner requires strength, as it often entails sleepless nights even when not physically working. The constant overthinking about tasks and goals can lead to exhaustion. However, being a business owner also offers flexibility in terms of scheduling, the ability to raise children from home, and the opportunity to travel and make it a business trip depending on the nature of the business. A 9 to 5, mean you have to answer to and give them 40 hours of your time before you actual get to come home and do something for yourself and at young i realize that was not the life for me i want to be free. I want to be the person who give people jobs and opportunities to better they life with open schedule and for them to know they are working for a company.

I still have my days when i think i should just take easy way out and work a 9 to 5 but then i realize i didn’t come this far to not be happy with myself or my business. So overall I’m excited, I’m beyond happy and grateful to be a business. I’m happy to announce that i will be welcoming my first son in the world as a business owner with allows me to not have to worry about who going to babysit and taking off for my doctor visit because I’m my own boss.

There are times when I contemplate choosing the easier path and working a
traditional 9 to 5 job. However, I quickly remind myself that I have worked too hard to reach this point and I deserve to be content with myself and my business. Consequently, I am filled with enthusiasm, immense happiness, and gratitude for being a business owner. I am thrilled to announce that I will soon be a mother to my first son, all while managing my own business. This allows me the freedom to not stress about arranging childcare or taking time off for medical appointments because I am in control of my own schedule. I am not only constructing an empire, but also creating the opportunity for my son to continue and succeed in a lifestyle brand without having to answer to others. Being self-employed has enabled me to ensure a prosperous lifestyle for the child I am expecting, as well as my future children, right from the start. So, to aspiring entrepreneurs and those who already have their own businesses, I urge you not to give up. Take your time and find a way to align your business with your desired lifestyle, as it will always be worth it and lead to your ultimate happiness.

I go by the name ShonMarra, and I take great pride in being a Gemini ♊️. I studied Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice at Virginia Union University, but eventually discovered my true passion for fashion. Previously, I worked as a Registered Behavioral Therapist, but I knew I wanted to combine all my skills and interests into one lifestyle brand.

BY-POLAR is not just a brand; it represents the journey of personal growth. My lifestyle brand aims to transform mental health into fashion while providing services that promote self-love.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

The cofounder’s origins stem from a romantic tale! He entered my life as a beloved Leo when I was going through a difficult period and quickly taught me numerous invaluable lessons. In a short period of time, he enlightened me about the true significance of time, finding joy in life, and ensuring that I pursue my passions daily. He motivated me to chase after my aspirations and grow into a stronger woman. He advised me to establish my own brand, and not only did I do so, but I transformed it into a lifestyle brand to spread the message of self-love to others. Although he has passed away and moved on to a better place, he will forever remain the inspiration behind my brand.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

Learning the importance of timing has been the most challenging lesson for me. As an entrepreneur, it can be difficult to strive for specific goals within a particular timeframe. However, I have come to understand that everything arrives at the appropriate moment in my journey, often requiring patience on my part. It is crucial to trust in God’s timing, as rushing inevitably leads to failure or incomplete results. By embracing the process and allowing oneself ample time, we can reach new levels and seize fresh opportunities..
