We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shmuel Eisenstein. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shmuel below.
Hi Shmuel, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
The first time I wanted to take my passion for fashion into the world of creating was during my first semester of college when I met one of my now best friends, Kaz. Kaz and I met during our first semester of college in our Fashion Fundamentals class. I had just moved to Kent, Ohio, a few days late, and missed the first-year orientations to meet other students, which made me eager to make friends. Our teacher posted a discussion board to introduce ourselves and our favorite brands. Kaz posted about the brands he liked and linked his Instagram account to the post. So, I reached out to him, and we instantly became friends. He introduced me to his friend group (almost all of whom were also fashion students), and we all clicked. After classes, we would hang out in the fashion building’s sewing labs and stay there past closing. Sitting there and watching them all create clothes inspired me so much. It opened me up to a world that I didn’t know about as much back home and made me think about creating all the clothing ideas I had in my head.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Greetings to all the readers, my name is Shmuel Eisenstein, and I am a fashion designer based in New York-New Jersey area. I am the founder of my company called Shmuie. Shmuie is an upscale modern streetwear brand that takes pride in crafting timeless, high-quality goods with a discernible edge.
As a brand owner, one of the most fulfilling moments is watching my customers share photos of themselves in my brand’s creations. The genuine satisfaction from knowing my designs have found a special place in people’s lives motivates me to push the boundaries of creativity and to continue crafting pieces. Seeing my work appreciated and worn out in the world is unparalleled – it is truly the best feeling for any brand owner.
I am excited to release my debut collection into the world. I have been working on some of these pieces for over a year, and everything has come together really well. The collection features a lot of my favorite work yet, and I think a lot of my customers will be really happy with the products.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
An essential part of building your social media presence is figuring out how you want to create original content. Even though we live in a day in age where everything, in theory, may have been done already, there are still so many lanes you can direct your content to be somewhat original.
Another vital part of building your social media presence is finding out who your target market is. Once you’ve discovered who they are, create a marketing campaign to grow your audience.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Goals, to me, are something that is always constantly evolving. When I started my brand, I did not know it would grow like it has now. My original goal was to pass the time while stranded on vacation and experiment with a new hobby. This hobby changed my life, so to fast forward and talk about my new current goals: I want to release my debut collection throughout the next few months while having all the products in hand and not having customers wait a long time for production and shipping. I want to show everyone the new direction I am heading in and see all the cool outfit photos they tag me on Instagram.
