Alright, SHMU’AL thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Having to face death on many occasions because of asthma and almost dying in 2016 has brought me to a place of realizing my purpose in life. I was given a second chance at life when my life laid in the hands of the creator of the heavens and earth. After living a wicked lifestyle and being warned, because warning comes before destruction, I had a severe asthma attack that left me in a medically induced coma for five days. The day before they were going to extubate my tube it became clogged. No one was aware of this but me when the Most High quickened my spirit and woke me up. My first thoughts were, “I can’t breathe.” I proceeded to extubate myself. A second chance was given to me.
Challenging people to be a better version of themselves without giving them an excuse to remain the same is my purpose in life. People give excuses to why they can’t change and in my opinion excuses are lies told to oneself to remain in the same state. My purpose is to challenge every excuse and provide a solution to the problem. In the process of challenging other people to be a better version of themselves, you challenge yourself to be a better version of yourself because you will also be able to see your own short-comings in the process. This requires a person to be humble and not to think of themselves more than what they are. In my life I’ve faced many challenges that have required me to look at myself at face value and not through a veil of deceit but to totally be honest with myself not to make excuses to remain the same.

My name is Shmu’al Yah. I’m a graphic designer, an author, a music artist and a clothing designer. I got to where I am today by way of YAHAYAH. It’s been through many trials and tribulations that my pathway has been paved.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing the end product of something you had in your mind. Also, being able to help someone accomplish their goals because of the things you have learned by going through the process.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Impacting and inspiring someone else is the mission which drives my creative journey. If my story or my work can inspire someone else who otherwise would have given up I feel I have accomplished my purpose in life.
