We were lucky to catch up with Shmu’al Yah recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Shmu’AL, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.

My name is Shmu’AL YAH and I am many things. I am an author, a graphic designer, a mentor, and a hood therapist. A man that wears many hats but my passion and love is graphic design. Being able to take someone else’s idea and bring it to reality is an unspeakable feeling. It also gives you insight into a persons way of thinking. My journey started off in the architecture field but weave its way into graphic design. My love for design has been engrained in me since I was knee high. I can remember selling drawings of shoes with two of my best friends in the 4th grade. Those were the beginning days that help solidify my ambiguous journey that life would present. Years of tribulation will birth an unquenchable desire to succeed and these are the things that has propelled me into such a great designer because I can tap into the connection that the client has with their ideas that they envision.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

As with any journey the road has had it bumps along the way. The failures along the way have taught me lessons that success could never teach me. It taught me to endure through all the storms in life and keep an optimistic approach about everything because life can turn around in an instant. People will test the limits of your patience and challenge your integrity however, these small inconveniences will develop character and build resilience that will carry you through any storm in life.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

I’m a graphic designer that has no specific one thing I do. I don’t like to be placed in a box so I work on many different kind of projects. I am most proud of the many people that I have been able to help bring their visions to life. What set me apart from others is I am my own person that does not follow any trends and lives in the moment.
