We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shirley Hoium. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shirley below.
Shirley, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
You need to have passion for what you are doing. Be willing to spend time educating yourself to grow and become better. As a photographer you also need to be very organized.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Photography started as a hobby and became a passion. It brings me so much joy to capture my clients happy moments.
I know most people are uncomfortable taking photos so it’s my job to make it fun and help them to pose in a way they feel like themselves.
I was born in Peru, raised in Germany, and have lived with my husband and our dog, in Shakopee, MN, since 2021.
I’m starting to get more into wedding photography because I love the aesthetics.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
To make families, couples and all my clients want to look at their pictures over and over again. The feeling they want to share it with everyone they know, and use their pictures as their profile pictures on social media.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I started with 0 followers, started my first posts and people started to follow my account, showed it to their friends and that’s how I gained some more. I’m still growing my social media presence and hope to gain a lot more followers with my content.
