Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shirley Harvey. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Shirley, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
I came up with the name Shirley Harvey Experience after planning and designing my own wedding. After facing some harsh realities and pushing through some obstacles I planned & ultimately created the wedding of our dreams. I thought it would be great to help ease the stress of other couples and help them along the way during their wedding planning process. Each wedding provides me with more and more experience of what can be utilized or altered for the next celebration. Shirley Harvey Experience was named with intention. Its always a lovely reminder that the “experience” started with my personal wedding which is so special to me.
Shirley, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Shirley Harvey Experience was born shortly after planning my own Wedding.
Within a month of my wedding being over, I was asked by my sister to help her colleague and his fiancé with some wedding plans. I was nervous at first but I leaped in. They loved the overall outcome I was sold on their happiness and thoughtfulness so I ventured out and created Shirley Harvey Experience Event Planning & Design.
From small intimate affairs to large-scale parties, I strive to execute events that not only aim to impress, but also create unique experiences for my clients and their guests that last long after the fun is over.
My ultimate goal is to deliver on every project with my client’s budget in mind, from initial concept through the event itself.
I am most proud of each client I have made smile after seeing their event décor or being with couples throughout an entire wedding day who is so thankful for my help.
I am a huge fan of uncompromising brides, understated budgets, and unbelievably beautiful weddings & social events.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with clients from different backgrounds & tailoring each event to meet their specific needs and desires.
I love taking care of people, and thrive on making your dream event a reality.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy of growing my clientele would be social media. Sharing Weddings and Events provides my future clients a portfolio of successful celebrations, prompting them to inquire for more information.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I would have to say that planning Weddings & Events during the pandemic was a journey in itself. During that time I had no idea what the celebrations would entail since everything in the world was so different. Dates were being canceled or changed which impacted a number of events, I thrive on making my clients have an amazing experience however nothing was the same as before, as there was so many aspects to now consider that was never considered before. Although planning was quite different during that time, I chose not to give up and continue on making my client’s celebrations as special as possible.
